Informal email vote was held and decided to move from Sunday to Saturday the 26th. Most folks appear to be busy for the Easter weekend, but a few of us are planning the trip.

10am Saturday the 26th at Gibsons range in Mesquite.

Range info:
Gibson Outpost Shooting Range
1712 Lawson Rd
Mesquite, TX 75181
(972) 222-8127

Yahoo Map to Gibsons

Thanks for the map. What time do they actually open? I may get there a bit earlier. If this mini is going to blow up I'd rather it happened before y'all get there so I can hide it. :neener:

I don't know about opening times, I have never been there. I took the above info from one of TechBrutes posts last year.

I'd like to attend but I'm tied up until noon. How long do you think people will be sticking around?
Are there any range fees associated with this?

Thanks

I'll be there. If someone has a metric FAL mag that they can bring and a few rounds of ammo, that would be great. I've got an FAL but no mags or ammo at this point.

I'm sure there are range fees, we have not talked to Gibsons about a package deal since so few people were committed, but I have no idea what they charge for range fees.

Fees

$10 memership fee good for a year
$8 every day you show up to shoot

FMJ OK for rifles (Yeah, baby!)

Rifle & pistol lanes...most rifle lanes 100yds, a few 50 yds, & two 200 yd lanes.

Outdoors

Owned by an old fellow, his wife, & a small dog or two.

I'm not sure I can go, as I just learned about it from THR_DFW group

Folks, it's 5:45AM and we have heavy rain, thunder and lightning over here. :banghead:

I looks like the system is stalled right over Dallas.

Here we go again. Think the place is a swamp?

Back to Winchester indoors? Rifles at 15 feet gentlemen, one thing is you always hit the 10 ring... :cuss:

Ideas?

Weather man says it will rain more as the day goes on. It's raining fairly consistently right now in GP, with T and L.

I'm up for whatever you guys decide. Shoot at Gibson's and swim to retrieve targets, or shoot at Winchester and wish the target was farther away.

Tried to call Gibsons, no answer, no answering machine.

Talked to a friend in Royse City and it's a swamp there, so East of us isn't any better.

I vote for Winchester, I'd like to at least shoot something today.

My new CQT won't do a lot of good, the target reticle will cover the whole wall :banghead:

Bring the handguns folks..... I am loading up a 629 in .44Mag, another Delta Elite, and my Sig239. Bringing the AR too, I bought some of those
$11 Brownells mags and they came in on Thursday, want to see if they really work.

Maybe eventually we will be able to find a dry spot. :(

DANGIT!%$@&%#&@^%W)(*!^+_& :cuss:

I'll see y'all at Winchester at 10. I guess I shouldn't have washed the truck yesterday.

I'm bringing everything I have in .40 and my freshly upraded (overhauled) Gaurdian 32 so I can see if it still works.
I'm also bringing the mini 30 but hardly seems worth it. At least I'll find out if it goes bang.

Well, we had a shoot, sort of.

HighVelocity, TechBrute and myself made it to Winchester Gallery.

Always an interesting crowd there. One tiny little girl was shooting her 9mm as fast as she could pull the trigger, sounded like an UZI going off.... she hit the paper most of the time.

Some local LEO's were qualifying with AR's and shotguns. I got a couple of thumbs up from my AR groups. I put a magazine into a 1.5" group and the LEO instructor gave me a grin. His poor students were lucky to be on the paper.

They switched to 3" magnum 00 buck and one poor girl took one shot and left the room crying.

HighVelocity got covered by some moron with a bling bling Desert Eagle while his cop buddy videotaped him.

I don't know if I can go back to Winchester again for a while.........

Pray for dry weather next month so we can go to Gibsons.

I think she was really hurt and all her fellow officers did was laugh.

Yes, being covered with that DE with the gold package was not on my list of things to do. Carelessness seemed to be rampant today.

I had some issues with my Mini 30 that were quickly identified and resolved thanks to TexasSIGman and I was able to enjoy shooting it instead of messing around trying to figure out what was wrong.

Since we've been rained out at Gibsons 2 months in a row, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that NEXT month the weather will be on our side (crosses fingers behind back). :D
