At my local indoor range, I saw a guy having trouble with his pistol. It is a DB9. He was having a lot of stoppages with the bullet's nose jammed into the chamber hood and the back of the case practically not even out of the magazine.

I witnessed a double jam - two bullets standing up with the top one jammed into the chamber hood. He has tried HPs, ball, etc. of all weights. Limp-wristing is not the cause. I tthink is is an issue with the magazines (he has two). Would this be fixed if he opened up the fronts of the magazine lips? Is anyone out there familiar with this problem on the DB9?

I recently bought a DB9 and have put about 250 rounds through it so far. I've had a similar problem but only when loading a round in the chamber when starting to shoot, but it has only happened twice in the 250 rounds. I believe the problem was that I wasn't pulling the slide all the way to the rear allowing the slide to get completely behind the round. Was the problem with both magazines.

I will say with near certainty that limp-wristing is absolutely the cause of his problems. It's an 11 ounce 9mm; you have to shoot it with authority.

Remember, with any short recoil system, operation is purely momentum (slide & barrel) and inertia (rest of the gun + shooter) once the bullet has left the bore, which occurs when the slide has only traveled a fraction of an inch. A very light slide needs a stout spring to slow it down sufficiently before it reaches it's rearward stopping point. When that lightweight slide and heavy spring are working against a much lighter frame, the shooter's grip is a bigger factor in everything operating correctly. This is exmplified in the micro-9s, of which the DB9 is the lightest.
