I ordered $ 650.00 merchandise from "Lee" Factory Sales LLC and later discovered that the company had nothing to do with Lee Precision but merchandizing Lee products.
They do not post on their web site if an item is not available but let you order it and load your charge card immediately. There were 4 items "back ordered" out of the 35 items I ordered. There is a "check your order status" and it will tell you that a certain item is shipped or back ordered. However, "shipped" DOES NOT mean the item was shipped and en route. I inquired about tracking numbers about the "shipped" items and got no answer to that. When I insisted on it they cancelled my order and refunded my money. (that's good) Since at the time I could not find the main item - Lee Classic Turret Press - I asked Mike (their "tech support" and apparently customer service person) not to cancel the order yet he did. :cuss:
I was ready for my reloader and I checked Midway USA again. They had it in stock along with all the other items (dies, brass gauges etc) by the time we "got done" with Factory Sales LLC. Midway USA shipped everything the same day for $ 30.00 more including $9.00 + change for NRA Roundup.:D

I bought several pistol die sets and an extra turret plate and could not have been happier, but I didn't order 35 items either.

I they communicated such as: "we can keep prices low if we ship everything together to save on shipping" or "if you are willing to pay extra shipping we will send the available items immediately" or just simply make it known if the item is available or not at the time of ordering, like other merchants do, I would have had no problem. But when it is marked as "shipped" on "the status of your order page" and it is not shipped and they hide the fact that it is not actually shipped out of their place (warehouse or whatever they have or have not) then something is not right somewhere. When one cannot get them answering the phone or direct questions via e-mail then something is not right.

Smokey, i just glanced at your website. It looks very nice and you give background on the operation. You are located in the same town as Factory Sales.
I do have one question though: why would you order something from Factory Sales when you are a Lee Precision distributor yourself?

I ordered from these folks recently and had great service.

He does not own the business, he only ordered from them.

The website http://www.titanreloading.com/ says: "Due to Lee Precision's commitment to source ALL products in the USA, some items are temporarily back ordered 12 days from the factory."

Seems many distributors may have the same trouble. Midway must have a larger inventory than most if you got all 35 items. Enjoy your press and goodies. :)

Mike,
Huh... My mistake.. hehe. Thanks for helping me focusing. Smokey ordered from Titan.. Do you think I am slow over here or what???? Anyhow, it doesn't change the fact that the Titan website is well designed and very nice looking.
Have a great weekend!

When I got ready to reload .223 and .308, initially I was planning to order from Kempf gun shop. I checked various online vendors but either they were out of some items or their prices were higher. Kempf and Factory Sales came fairly close, but I ended up ordering from Factory Sales because Kempf did not have the extra parts I was ordering (Yes, I too at first thought they were associated with Lee Precision, but they are not :D).

This was my order sheet (some items were added for a friend):
Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 90064 CLASSIC TURRET PRESS $84.48

Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 90519 R2 SHELL HOLDER $3.00
Ordered: 1 Shipped: 1 90004 R19 SHELL HOLDER UNIVERSAL # SD3131 $3.00
Ordered: 1 Shipped: 0 90604 DELUX RIFLE 3 DI 223 $29.95
When I received the box, I noticed that .223 deluxe die set was not included. I thought about calling Factory Sales, but noticed in the shipping email that it was not shipped "Shipped: 0". I guess another email that indicated that the .223 die set was out of stock at the time of shipping would have been nice.

All in all, the order arrived timely and well packaged. I still haven't been able to find another vendor with "over-all" price point better than Factory Sales.

I ended up ordering my .223 deluxe die set from MidwayUSA along with other sales items. May be Greg is just a shy person. :D

Good and bad with Factory Sales and with Kempf's

This Summer (2010) I went shopping online for a Classic Turret. I exchanged emails and a couple of phone calls with Sue Kempf at Kempf's Gun Shop and with three of the guys at Factory Sales.

At first, I was unaware that Factory Sales was not an arm of Lee Precision. But if you go to Lee's site, and poke around a bit, you will find a list of outlets for Lee's gear. Factory Sales is listed there. Also, if you ask, F.S. will tell you straight that they are not Lee.

I started shopping in June, and eventually bought $400+ of stuff in August (with a 2-week break in June/July for a family wedding and to let the information I had gathered to "simmer" in my brain), so you know it was a long process and required patience on the part of the sellers.

Lee Precision, Factory Sales and Kempf Gun Shop were all very helpful. I almost bought from Kempf even though my purchase would have been just a little more money. Sue was VERY helpful. But then someone else at Kempf sent me an email accusing me of abusing their web site (I had multiple order sheets because there was no way for me to delete them). Without the courtesy of a sender's name, nor a reply when I emailed back.

That insult sent me back to F.S. where I discovered they had reduced their prices. I emailed Sue Kempf and found they could not match F.S., (to my regret, as despite the rudeness of the guy's email -I think it was a guy based on the sentence construction- I still wanted to reward Kemp's because Sue was so kind). So I bought from Factory Sales.

Factory Sales was not an unalloyed success. They substituted some of my order for other stuff. They (wrongly) thought the Pro Auto-Disk would not work with the Classic Turret Press, so switched it for the standard Auto-Disk and did not tell me. I found out after it was already shipped. They also substituted the round die boxes for the rectangular ones I ordered. In their defense, I did ask them to vett my equipment choices for appropriateness and compatibility. But they did not check with me before actually changing the order and based some of their changes on ignorance.

Overall, I am happy with Factory Sales and with Kempf's Gun Shop, both.

As it turns out, substituting the round die storage containers was the right call. But they were wrong on the Auto-Disk. They did send me an upgrade kit for my Auto-Disk with free shipping on it an an additional Pro Auto-Disk. But they did not give me a discount on the purchase price. However, they did offer to return the mistakenly substituted standard Auto-Disk.

When my second shipment was being shipped, I was in contact with the shipping guy daily and confirmed the contents. He even initiated some of the calls, BEFORE shipping.

That was my experience. Their return policy is good. You have to watch them like a hawk to make sure nothing snags up. It's sad, but true, caveat emptor.

Good Luck

The joy of using your Classic Turret will be glowing long after the your rancor over the purchasing process has faded.

Lost Sheep

When I first started reloading, I ordered a complete Classic Turret setup with accessories from Factory Sales. I knew that they were not associated with Lee other than as a distributor, but they had a great price point and my research showed them to be reputable. The order was shipped timely and since I ordered a several items the shipping cost was reasonable. I saved a lot of money considering alternatives, particularly if I had bought local. (Sad that local prices are not better.) They charged my card prior to shipping, but considering the price and the expediency of shipping I did not consider that to be a problem. Both price and service were great.

I am glad that most of you had good service with FS but they almost changed my mind about Lee Precision products. I am not saying that to spend a few hundred bucks on other brand of reloading equipment with the same scope of capabilities I could easily afford but service is very important to me. When I discovered that FS was not a subsidiary of Lee Precision I stuck with my original plan.

I made three orders from Factory Sales just recently, one which was the Lee Classic Turret press. They consistently had the lowest prices on Lee stuff. All three orders were immediately acknowledged. I received ship notices with tracking numbers for two of the items immediately. The ship notice for the press came maybe three or four days later. All items arrived well packed and in good shape.

I was actually going to start a thread on how nice it was to deal with them.

My experience with them has been good too but I did learn to ask if they have the merchandise in stock. If yes, I place the order and I have been happy with both prices and service.

Maybe there is curse on every xxxx numbered guy who places an order with them and everybody else lives happily ever after (just kidding!!!>>> for you who are more serious) I am sure I will never order a thing from them. I ordered volume and it added up in savings. But ordering one item for anywhere from 0 to a few bucks savings doesn't worth the hassle with them. (I am far away from being rich) As I said, I got the same order from MidwayUSA for $30.00 more including $9.+some change in NRA Roundup with shipping everything the same day and they let you know when you pick for the item for purchase if it is available or not. MidwayUSA shipping actually came to $10.00 cheaper - probably because of the distance.

I once ordered $300 equipment from them, however their purchase confirmation email scared me. I asked for a refund and promptly got one without any questions asked.

mamamia,
"I once ordered $300 equipment from them, however their purchase confirmation email scared me. I asked for a refund and promptly got one without any questions asked."

That's the only good thing about them.

We're all entitled to our own opinions and I'm not looking to flame anyone but I think that's a bit harsh.

flashole,
I mean no offense, I am talking about my own experience. It ticked me off. Have you been ready for your merchandise what you already paid for and hardly could wait to get it? I saved up my little money to have what I desired for for years and somebody doesn't respect your business at all? When you are not respected that much as being told what is the status of your own goods since you paid for them already? It is disrespect on their part.

I bought a Lee PPM from them. They shipped it fast and the packaging was good, I had no problems. What I did notice was they are higher on their shipping so they weren't any cheaper than anybody else for that item at least.

I had a similar experience with Factory Sales and will likely not order from them again....

For just a few bucks more, Midway is crystal clear about their stock status, has most things in stock, has a great web site, has awesome customer service and will ship it withing 24 hours.

Kempfs is awesome as well.

So is Graf and Sons.

To each his own....... I've ordered from Midway for the past 4 years, only "one" time did I have to wait for one item, later shipped in 3 days. Sometimes we have to bite the bullet { no pun intended } and pay a little extra, if they have what I need, I just pay and wait.

SSN Vet,
We are on the same page on that one, so is 788Ham. I am done with those folks. If they do not want my hard earned money I sure will not force them to have it. I am in customer relations/service employment and have experience how far one needs to go to please a customer (don't get any ideas>>>kidding!) I require my associates to do the right thing.
..and have experience in the slogan "the customer is always right" and I say EXCEPT when the customer is wrong!
