H4350 is somewhat slower burning than IMR4350. H is made in Australia and is temperature insensitive, while IMR is Canadian. I believe the H version has shorter granules and appears greenish while the IMR version appears black.
I've only used IMR but both powders get good reviews. You can check out www.hodgdon.com since Hodgdon distrubutes both powders.
+1, IMR is a teeny bit faster, it is right above H4350 on the burn speed chart. They are one atop the other. So no real significant difference except for H4350 has shortened grains now and a coating to make it temp nonsensitive.
(Oh, yeah, +1 on Mr. Blunt, above. Helps if I read the responses before answering myself)
That's interesting, ArchAngel. Thanks for the info. I've only used the IMR version. It is reasonably good in my 30-06 and 270. Each rifle seems to have a favorite.
Anyone else compare accuracy between the two? Tell us the caliber and barrel length, and which one was better.
IMR4350 tends to have a faster burn rate than H4350 and
generates slightly higher pressures in equal grain weights so for heavens sake dont get them confused . The IMR has for me proven to excell in the heavier hot side loads in many calibres for me as where the Hodgdon was better in heavy bullet weight loads for calibre not redily known for higher velocity . Examples for me would be IMR4350 in my 300 Win Mag and my 243 where the H4350 worked better in my 30-06 and my 6.5x55 Swede . Both are VERY good powders in their own right .
