MORE questions. Will the Dillon 1200b Trimmer work to trim M1 Carbine brass (tapered case)? If so, do I need a dedicated Dillon size/trim die? I have 5,000+ Carbine cases, and they're ALL over the place...length wise! I'm not going to trim all those cases with my Forstner. While cleaning my seating die, I noticed that the case is only allowed to go in to a certain depth, then is stopped by a ring machined into it. This means that the bullet is seated to a precision depth...no matter WHAT the case length is...DOH! All my brass is LC pull-down, and one would ASSUME they would be ALL the correct length. I've been reloading for a number of years, and this is a revelation to me. I have always trimmed my case headspaced 45 ammo, and it's the best I've ever used. Never accured to me why. I guess I've found the answer to the failure to load/go into battery/eject mystery...along with loading too light. I'm ashamed of myself...

Dillon doesn't make a die for the .30 Carbine for their case trimmer. I wish they did, since I hate trimming them. They grow quite a bit, so they will need trimming.

I normally use my Lyman Drill Press Trimmer for .30 Carbine, but I'm not sure they still make them. The jaws wore out on mine and I had a heck of a time finding replacement jaws.

Hope this helps.

Dillon does not sell a .30 carbine trim die for the 1200 trimmer, but you can buy one from CH4D: http://www.ch4d.com/. Search the trim die listings for "30 M-1 Carbine".

Because of the short length of .30 carbine cases, the chip window on any .30 carbine trim die is covered up by a standard thickness toolhead. Brad's warehouse sells a shorter toolhead for my 650 that opens up this window (http://www.bradswarehouse.com/index.php?p=1_10_Toolheads). You didn't mention what press you use; hopefully Brad's has the right one for you. There are also other tool heads out there for other Dillon models.

This gear makes case prep on .30 carbine and .300 blackout MUCH easier!

Even MORE questions! I have a brand new Lee, full length, Carbide die for my M1 Carbine. The people at CH4D make a Carbine Die for the Dillon 1200B Case Trimmer, but it's not carbide. NOW...it would appear that I could make up an "adapter" to screw into the Trimmer and into my Carbide Carbine die. Anyone with any experience able to comment on this idea?

Think about that. You'd be putting a cutter inside a carbide die, which has a full length carbide insert. Where would the cutter contact the case mouth inside the die? And how would it cut all the way to the outside case wall while it's inside the carbide insert?

Unless the Lee Carbide die is made differently than my RCBS Carbide .30 Carbine sizing die, it won't work. There is also the issue of the cuttings, and how you would get them out of the die. The Dillon trim dies have a window for the cuttings to come out of, and even at that, things gum up inside there when doing large amounts of brass.

Hope this helps.

The only thing wrong with my 1200 is that Dillon doesn't offer enough trim dies for it. Otherwise I'd have one for every caliber I load.

The trim dies for the 1200b also size the case, but they can't deprime. I have chosen to size and deprime cases at station one on my 650 using a standard steel sizing die, and then trim them at station four using the 1200b. Works very nicely.

Check out Dillon's recommendations regarding carbide sizing dies for rifle rounds (http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/co...bide_Rifle_Dies__Individual___Three_Die_Sets_).
