Dillon Case Lube = stuck cases

I have been away from all reloading for a couple of years, and rifle in particular for about 3. I just resurrected my equipment, and as I was unloading a box I found Dillon case lube and RCBS case lube, both in the pump bottles. I couldn't remember which I'd used years ago that worked well, but I thought it was the Dillon product.

In an effort to size and deprime some commercial .223 brass, I set up the press and got the cases aligned in a tray and sprayed on the case lube. I waited a few minutes, per the instructions, and tried a resize.

POP! The shellplate ripped off the base, and got stuck in my brand-new die.

After a little while of trying to figure out what was going on, I decided to try some .308 that I had lying around.

POP! The shellplate ripped off the base on this one as well, sticking the case.

Does the Dillon stuff stink, or am I going about this all wrong?

I lay the cases on a cookie sheet lined with a paper towel and spray one side then roll them 180 degrees ( just tip the cookie sheet ) and spray again. Let the alcohol evaporate and size.
I've done this with dillons case lube and my home made dillon (like) case lube.

Never had a stuck case yet.

Over time the alcohol could have seperated from the lanolin and you were just getting alcohol?? If this happened in the spray tube that could explain it, you would see happen it in the bottle but not in the internal spray tube.

There was still some lanolin getting on the cases, as it had the familiar smell and they were kind of tacky.

Guess it's time to order some Imperial sizing wax.

Did you shake well before using? And did you spray the inside of the sizing die and let it dry, which usually only needs to be done once? Both of those need to be done when using spray lubes. The inside of a new sizing die also needs to be thoroughly cleaned and then sprayed with the same kind of lube you're going to use on the brass before you size the first case.
