Edit to make this gun related: The topic of the night was the fatal, negligent shooting of an 8 year old child by a 7 year old child in Dorchester, MA, and the question was posed (which I was not allowed to answer) as to whether there's anything we can do to stop accidents from happening (which, had I been quick enough, I would have said "education")
I'm extremely disappointed. I was on the air with WBZ, and John Rosenthan from Stop Handgun Violence. In the entire time I was on the air, I wasn't given enough time to coalesce a single complete thought, numbers I provided were summarily dismissed (while numbers John provided were stood up for), and I wasn't given more than 60 seconds time to speak in the 9 minutes I was railroaded.
I even started the conversation saying that I had several points to make, and ended the conversation asking for 30 seconds to summarize them - all of which was denied.
At the very end, I was at least able to talk over the host and ask them to give some time to a pro gun organization (like GOAL or the NRA), which I very well know they won't do.
I definitely learned two things:
1) If you want to talk to a person on the radio, don't expect to make your points.
2) If you want to make any point, be prepared to talk over everyone else.
I'm really really frustrated.
