Ironically, both MAS49 and AR15 are direct impingement designs from more than fifty years ago. The antis hate these classics, too.

I simplified it a bit.

Oleg, I think you need to include your side comment in the poster. But I'm sure the wordyness police will be along shortly either way. Either them or the flip-flops police.

BTW, the antis hate the M-14, M1 Garand, and any AK/SKS too and those are all gas piston systems

Anyone got suggestions on culling the verbiage without losing the meaning? Intended audience are hunters and crufflers.

Excellent message. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of putting the FAL next to an M1A; functionally identical but the FAL looks "scarier". I know at least one (former) anti gunner revised her opinion of so-called assault rifles after that.

Instead of the MAS use a non-detachable-magazine-fed rifle like a Garand or a BAR hunting rifle.

I would echo jlbraun; perhaps a modern auto-loading hunting rifle would get the point across better. The MAS is still obviously military.

As far as the verbiage, how about "Gun Banners don't care about details, they want ALL your guns".

I'll make the hunting rifle version also, but MAS49/56 is almost sixty hears old and not that different from a hunting BAR in looks and features.

Don't Cut it down just spread it out

Try putting the opening
"Gun Banners don't care about details"
at the top

Then exhibit A

In between the two list the various features

Then Exhibit B

Then close the poster
"They want to ban all modern guns!"

I recall the time that idiot state legislator... I think it was Cynthia McKinney... tried to get that gun ban started in Georgia. The discussion at my local gun club, a friend of mine was talking about how a true assault rifle is select fire capable, but what makes most guns dangerous to the antis is that they fire more than once based on capacity. He opined that if it passed, he'd get to keep his 1874 Sharps (he owns and shoots other rifles), but anything that holds more than one shot is gone. However, in the ensuing conversation, it was also recognized that while the gun banners holler about cheap inaccurate guns, once all those are banned, they go for the ultra-accurate single-shots as "sniper rifles" and that would include a Sharps.

Ya'll ever seen "Quigley Down Under" and "Legends of the Fall"?

Or they'd ban all .50 caliber anti aircraft guns, which would ban many muzzleloaders. All guns are on the hitlist. It's just a matter of what they demonize first.

Oleg:

I think this:

Antis say “Details be damned!”

Pistol grip & straight stock. Plastic & wood. Small caliber & large.

They want all your guns!

By using the "&" to replace the word "or" makes the position all-inclusive, which is your closing message in the 3rd line. In terms of the first line, when you say the audience is hunters, that is an expression I hear from hunters..."details be damned". :)

JMHO.

Oleg, you're too focused... Yeah, the surplus rifle is the same age, and has the same features, but it looks a lot like an EBR to hunters... Replace it with a Browning or another "Bubba the Hunter" semi-auto.

Let me suggest instead, a two frame layout.

In the first frame, just show a head shot of a guy. Caption it with something like, "Semi-automatic machineguns are only useful for killing people. You can't even hunt with them."

In the second frame, pull back to show him with a scoped, bolt action varmint rifle. Caption it with something like, "...that's why I only have deadly long range sniper rifles!"

If the target audience includes hunters then you should include a semi auto hunting rifle in there or one of the new pistol grip RealTree cammo Mossberg turkey guns.
