DIY Home Made Shoo-n-c
Hello everyone. I am a founder of a local shooting group called Maine Shooter. Every month we get together and meet up in our busy lives. One day while i was on a job site making some home made rubber place mats for inside drawers for tools not to move. i ended up "breaking" one, by dropping a hammer on it. It "broke" with the effect of a Shoot-n-c target.
this was my ah-ha moment.
Now I bring you my how-to after much enjoyment from my members
Step 1: the needed items to construct.
One ream of colored paper, I used staples brand orange and green neon colors but at Walmart they have these ( http://www.walmart.com/ip/Wausau-Pa...-11-Planetary-Purple-500-Sheets-Ream/15084772 ) (about $10)
One 3 pack of packing tape or similar (http://www.walmart.com/ip/Scotch-Shipping-Tape-54.6yds-3pk/17209138) (about $8)
and oil based spray can. I used Rust-Oleum Metallic paint. $4 at lowes $6 at WM
Step2: Prep
Take how ever many sheets you want to make. Keeping in mind that my results have yielded about 40 sheets for 2 cans of spray for one coat.
use your roll of tape to tape one side of the paper, the whole one side. You may use a tape gun but i recommend taping on a flat workable surface.
Step 3: Painting
Caution: follow warning labels on cans and also try to avoid making the paper roll up on you.
I layed mine flat on the lawn, dont worry about over spray. just make sure there is a good coat on it. You only paint the taped side.
you can repeat this step if you want, i would try to see if YOU like one coat or two coats results at the range.
You can design any type of target with this method. For the bullseye i use leftover yard sale stickers and cut paper of different colors. If you want to get fancy you can make a round multi curricle with different colors and tape em together then paint.
so after doing the math with my yeilded results with the price I paid for my targets I made. It cames to $0.25 a target for single coat and about $0.40 for two coats.
The picture below on the left side is of one coat, the right has two coats.
