Spring finely came upon up here in Western Washington.
We started our adventures up to the 435th Ave shooting pita couple of weeks ago.
So far we went to this pit five times and to the small pit on the Suaittle River Road twice.
Today my step daughter went and two of the grand kids went.
It was the first time for my five year old granddaughter to shoot a real gun.
My grandson Mason started shooting since he was four and he is eleven now.

It was a nice sunny day and 45 degrees.

@Highland Lofts - allow me to pass on my thanks to you for both cultivating new shooters and being a good steward of the environment with your range clean-up efforts. Please know that members of our community such as yourself are greatly appreciated by the rest of us!

I will get up to that shooting pit sometime soon (probably almost a three-and-a-half, four-hour drive if I drive around the sound), but it looks so much nicer than the outdoor shooting areas (Greenwater, Triangle, etc.) that are much closer to me.

I loaded up some 40cal and 10mm Thursday and took Mason out to a small spot in Oso not far from that major mud slide that killed 42 people.
He shot for about half an hour and then the rain and hail started coming down.
I picked up all of the shotgun hulls. Just a small bucket of them. I need to take the truck and clean up a bunch of trash people dumped out there.
The dump fee at the transfer station is generally $20 but they are to cheap to pay that little bit of money.

@Highland Lofts awesome job with growing the shooting mindset with your grandchildren. Very good job teaching them stewardship of the land so others can enjoy the same opportunities.
The mountains look wonderful

It is always a pleasure taking them out up in the mountains. Picking up the trash is something that needs to be fine otherwise the DNR or the US Forest Service will shut the shooting spots down and put gates up.

Here is a cougar really close to the 435th Ave shooting pit a friend captured on his trail camera

And a picture of White Horse Mountain.

It has snow on it all year long.

We got to get out shooting again yesterday.
We took Mason's mini bike with us so he could get some riding in.
We met friend up at the pit. He had a couple of guns he wanted to get sighted in.
It was supose to of been a wash out 99% chance of rain. It was cloudy but no rain.
The pit was busy yesterday.
There was a guy picking up brass at the pit when we arrived there.
He had close to five gallons of brass and left. While my grandson and my friend Ed were shooting I picked up three gallons of spent shotgun hulls and seventeen pounds of brass.
I also bought thirty-three pounds of brass from a guy that lives up in Darrington.
After I picked up all of the rifle and pistol brass three tweekers came snd cleaned up all of the 22lr, 22mag and 17HMR brass.
Mason got to shoot Ed's 380 pistol and wants one now.
I took three milk jugs full of water and filled empty soda and beer cans for Mason to shoot. He would shoot a little then ride his mini bike, shoot some more and ride the mini bike again. He put thirty miles on his mini bike. The forest service roads are awesome with great views.
When it warms up a little we will start camping up there and fish for brook trout.
I love ourtime up in the mountains.

We are getting rain here lately. We will probably get back out next weekend. I want to buy my grandson a battery operated clay pigeon thrower.

There are two DNR shooting pits that need to be cleaned up again. I will be organizing another clean up for these pits. Two years ago we hauled out twelve tons of trash from these two pits.

I bought him a Ruger LCP in 380. He loves it.
I bought 500 cases, 500 bullets a set of dies. I'm waiting for the crimp die to come in the mail. We will probably go shooting later this afternoon.

I took my grandson and one of his friends up to the 435th Ave pit Sunday morning.
We left the house at 9.30am and got back home at 7.30pm.
They had a great day of shooting.
The must of shot up around a thousand rounds of ammunition.
I need to get back in the reloading room again.
Both kids can shoot. I love watching them develop good shooting skills and habits.
Next weekend TRASH NO LAND organization is hosting a DNR pit clean up this Sunday June 4th up in Sultan.
I might be camping out up there with my grandson with Bill Cogly from TRASH NO LANDS.

Times goes by fast when your having fun.

I'm waiting at the Sultan WA park n ride for a friend. We will be helping out on the clean up at the Sultan Basin shooting area.
It should be a good turn out and we should get a lot of trash picked up.

The Sultan Basin shooting pit clean up was a huge success.
Around 25 to 30 people showed up for the clean up event.
You have to walk in a trail around three hundred yards to to pit.
I amazes me people carry in that much trash and just leave it there.
Bill Cogly from Trash NO Land.org supplied a bunch of clean up tools and provided lunch and beverages. He did the four hour drive to the clean up spent around seven hours there then the four hour drive home.
Trash No Land and Cabelas of Tulalip donated prizes for a free raffle.
I won a nice American flag and flag pole.

I will be hosting a shooting pit clean up at the two Suaittle River Road pits on July 15th.
I'm the guy in the lime green tee shirt on the right.
