Do After Marlket Mags Work Well in Sigs?

Given the info provided by "rellascouty", that commercial buyers of Sigs will now only be provided only one magazine, I ask the following question (having never shot a Sig, but anxiuosly awaiting my P220 Equinox).

Do the after market Sig mags work reliably? Pro Mag, ACT, etc?

Are there any brands I should try to avoid? (a PM is OK if you do not prefer to post experiences here).

Sigs mags are made by Mec-Gar. You can order the mags directly from Mec-Gar and get the exact same mags that come from the Sig factory.

my prefered mag for the 220 is the one produced by Act-Mag (sometimes also marked Novak). for all other Sigs, i go with the Mec-gar.

avoid ones by Pro Mag

Mec-Gar makes magazines for the P226, P228 and 9mm P229 that hold two more rounds, work just as well (reportedly) and are priced lower. A "win-win" situation.

Hey Chiselchst,

I looked for the Mec Gar mags for the P220 and couldn't find any.....so I went with a couple Sig 10 round mags, not cheap but was the only 10 round option that I could find. topgunsupply.com has the Act-Novak 8 round mags for about 20 bucks, I think I will pick up a few of these also. Only a few days left until I can pick up my P220!!!

Mec-Gar may not have the P220 listed on their website, but call the office and order them over the phone. They have good customer service..

I have a number of the ACT-MAG/Novak 8 round mags for my P220's and they work fine. They also work in my P245.

Been ok for my 220, but that's been a low-milage sidearm for me so far, so YMMV.

I've a bit more experience with 1911 magazines by various manufacturers.
