Do You Carry A Revolver Exclusively?

Yup, I carry one almost all of the time.I Carried a .41 magnum as a LEO. I have a couple of 10mms in 1911 configuration, but haven't carried them in nearly a year.

I carry a Model 19 most of the time, and a 640-1 when circumstances and clothing require something a bit smaller.

Why? I guess I grew up with revolvers and I trust them to work when I need one.

Carried S&W revolvers for years. Model-60 and 65. Accurate, reliable and consistent.

After years of dissapointment with semi-autos, I finally tried the ugly Glocks. I now carry the G26 and G29.(9MMs) I still have the revolvers if the Glocks ever fail me.

My history of semi-auto disappointment includes owning Beretta, Colt, Sig, Springfield, S&W, Walther and a cheap High-Power copy. The S&W 45 auto was reliable but I never liked the transition from DA to SA.

My favorite part of revolvers is not chasing empty brass.

Happy New Year!

Not exclusively but 95% of the time. When I do carry a semi its one that like a revolver all I have to do is pull the trigger.

Why? I don't want any safety doo-dads to fumble with.

Well said C&L.
Snubbies rule!

When I go to the city (not often) and it's tee shirt and blue jeans I carry my P220 in a super tuck. The rest of the time I carry my 4in GP100 .357. It feels better in my hand.

After years of trying various wheelguns and semis, these are my CCW pieces:

Sixes.jpg

Usually carry in the maxpedition or shoulder rig.

As to why, I prefer the simplicity, balance, power and ease of shooting of the sixes. The .357 comes in a wide array of loadings for all kinds of purposes, which is a bonus.

Blue Brick I have the exact same Service Six. Just got it the other day.

Back to the OP: I usually carry either a 3-inch barrel SP101 or a S&W 638 Airweight.

I had a model 60 that that I traded in and lost lots of sleep. I finally went to the toy store yesterday lo and behold in the bottom shelf all the way in the back I saw a SP101 in 357 and I'm back in business. I plan on carying everyday.I will never do that again. Got it used for $320 out the door. Happy happy joy joy.

only wheel guns for me

I carry a S&W Model 65 3 inch, Ruger SP-101 3 inch, or my older S&W Model 640 in 38 Sp.. Don't see the need for much else. Can't get any easier than stick finger in hole and pull trigger.

For Carry, Wheelguns only. My favorite snubby, had it for years is German made, H. Weirhauch 2 1/4 bbl in .357
Don't have to worry about hiding it under a "T" shirt, I wear a real shirt, with buttons, AND, a collar! when I leave the house. :D

Yup; you bet. A 4" GP100 on the waist with an SP101 on the ankle.
Reasons several but basically boil down to;
1. I can hit reliably well with either
2. Ease of action...no mechanical safeties to muck about with.

Sorry, no photo. I need to learn how to do that. I do appreciate the photos many of you provide so thanks.

most every day I carry a D frame Colt because I shoot them well (especially my Diamondback).

Sometimes I can't carry a revolver so a Kahr PM9 is in order.

Most days for me it is either a S&W 638 or 642, and now adding my newly purchased S&W model 12 to the rotation. Around 10% of the time it is either a Kahr CW9 or one of my Makarov's. So i guess I carry 90% revolvers and 10% autos.

Currently my carry rotation consist of a SP101 and or a 642. I dont know I just find them as comfortable if not more so than my semi's. Although my Glock 26 is often easier to conceal I find I shoot not only my 3" SP101 but also my 642 better. I will sacrafice capacity for solid hits. I havent given up and this is subject to change at anytime.

Not exclusively

I carry a 7-shot .357 magnum snubby A LOT, although not exculsively. WIth it in my IWB holster, I do not have the "fear" that I did not put enough "test rounds" through it to be sure it WILL function reliably. I have no concern about FTF or FTE.

Yes, I have read about revolvers "jamming/ceasing up", but I think I've tried mine enough to not allow that possibility to dictate my choice of carry.

I like my revolvers because there is so little chance of a malfunction.

And I reload my own ammo & it's soooooo much easier to open the cylinder to extract the brass than bend over to pick it up (if you can find it).

'Scuse my ignorance, but what exactly do you call the metallic part that goes on the front of the grip (right under three fingers of your shooting hand)? I assume this is intended for the shooter's comfort ... is it mainly for folks with longish fingers?

Easily removed?

For my first year of wearing the badge, March 1984 to 1985, the rules said revolvers only, whether on or off the clock. I started with a 4" Model 686, 4" Model 581, 2.5" Model 66, 2" Model 60, and soon added a 4" Model 629, all S&W.

There were other periods since then when I have set aside autos totally for a year or two, the most recent being 1994 or 1995 to 1997, when I carried a 4" S&W Model 66 at work, and either the same 66 or a 4" S&W Model 19 concealed off the clock. Back-up was generally a J-snub of the Model 642 persuasion. (Not actually a 642, but a Performance Center limited edition called the M460, and that is not a typo.)

In between, I toted a 4" GP100 on and off the clock, a near-24/7 gun, from 1993 to '94 or '95. There were times in the mid-late-1980's when the Model 58 was a virtual 24/7 gun.

Since 1997, I have carried autos as "primary" on duty, unable to switch back to sixguns due to the turnaround of policy. I have often carried the same autos much of the time off the clock, for convenience. (Revolvers remain OK for back-up at work.)

Since October of 2010, I have generally toted revolvers off the clock and as back-up at work, only carrying the duty SIG P229R in the duty rig. Time will tell whether I revert to being all-revolver 24/7 after I retire, but I did recently purchase a 3.06" SP101 and a 4" S&W Model 19 with my retirement years specifically in mind.

FWIW, I am not stuck in the past. I started handgunning with a 1911, and used to think revolvers were obsolete, before I learned to appreciate them while a rookie LEO. I still like both autos and sixguns.
