I carry two 95% of the time.

A 1911 @ 4:00 and a S&W 642 in a Galco Ankle Glove.

I have several reasons for the BUG. I spend a LOT of time driving. The ankle BUG is in the case of a car-jacking in which I can't reach something on my belt. This also applies to anytime I'm sitting... anywhere, on anything.

The second reason is in the rare instance that I might be able to arm someone near me, like my father, mother, a good friend, or a trusted acquaintence in the case of a home invasion, robbery, or pre-meditated "shooting".

The third reason is in case my primary malfunctions seriously.

The fourth reason is simply "because I can". I have the right to and "it couldn't hurt".

I threw a Kahr PM9 in my jacket pocket the other day for an hour, effectively carrying three guns for a while, just to say I had, so here I am, saying I have. ;)

I usually have one of two ARs with two mags coupled together, or an AK with the same configuration in the trunk of my car, but I haven't for a while. That's also mostly just "because I can". What's the most likely scenario for using a trunk rifle? Putting down a rabid deer? Counter-sniper Texas-clocktower shooting? I don't know. Anything I need a rifle for, If I can get to my car, I'm driving away. :)

On my person, I generally carry two, a primary weapon, and a J-frame in a pocket holster. I voted more than 2 because both of my vehicles have lox boxes which contain an additional handgun and spare magazine.

I try to carry at least 5 guns: I usually am on crutches so I can carry an sks down my right pant leg (AR's Mag stick out too much), a Taurus snub in one ankle holster, and a S&W in the other. In addition, I have two 1911's in my double shoulder holster (they balance well with 4 extra mags on each side). If I have to go to a bad area (outside my neighborhood or someplace like a graveyard) I carry a Mossberg persuader with a folding stock in a tennis racket case over my shoulder.

Two Colt revolvers. One late era Detective Special strong side. One Cobra (alloy DS) opposite side shoulder holster, custom made by Rusty Sherrick.

I'd like to carry autoloaders, but my hands have deteriorated from the disease. So I only feel confident working a revolver.

Tom Given once told me, "There's nothing wrong with revolvers. I know guys I've worked with that carried two." He emphasized two.

I made the same decision.

One or two on the body (depending on circumstances), one off the body and one in car. So most of the time, at least two, sometimes three and occasionally four.

Don't want to lose a gunfight for lack of shooting back.

Also, the couple of times that I thought I might have needed one, (which thankfully, I didn't) in retrospect, I felt I should have something bigger and more bullets.

By the way, three of the four are J-Frame Smiths, 5 shot revolvers. The fourth is a Colt Commander .45.
