I don't even know anymore
So you go to the shooting range with a collection of weapons to play with for the day, including some trigger time with you CCW. This is all assuming your range is concealed carry friendly, but otherwise, indoor/outdoor etc doesn't really matter.
I usually carry concealed until I feel like shooting my CCW, at which point I have a smoke, stroll around a bit, and at some point stop, draw and fire at the target. from that point, I usually leave it on the bench until I feel like shooting it again.

Do you feel the need to carry at the range?

How do you shoot your CCW while remaining armed?

At an unsupervised range out in the boonies, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have CCW if you didn't bring any buddies along..

Shoot your CCW, then reload and re-holster. Continue to carry as normal until you get home. Then unload, clean, and reload your weapon.

I don't really feel the "need" to carry at the range; I usually have a firearm of some sort handy anyway. EXCEPT when I go to a WMA range or "informal" shooting area. Then I carry. There are too many idiots around. I have been threatened at a WMA range before for simply asking some idiot not to shoot while I was down range changing a target. His response was: "You want a piece of this!?!?!" Needless to say, I immediately packed up and left. I would prefer to be armed if an armed idiot is going to threaten me.

I CC everywhere. Why should I stop just because I'm in a place where there's a bunch of armed people I don't know?

How can I be shooting without being armed? When I draw from concealment, I am still armed - it's just not concealed.

It may be wise to leave one magazine loaded if you're shooting your carry weapon. That way when you're fumbling with your stuff or reloading mags, you still have a weapon ready to go if need be. I hardly ever go to organized ranges; I prefer to go out to public land. It would be pretty s###ty to get robbed of all your stuff with a few empty guns right there.

Generally yes and don't really worry about printing. I rotate my CCW guns and I generally get some trigger time with the one I'm carrying...

I carry every where I can, so I am carrying when I get to the range. I go to a nice range east of Colorado Springs mostly retired & active military and generally not too crowded. That said it's still a bunch of people I DON'T KNOW W/ guns so our rule is that either me or the wife always keep at least one gun loaded at all times. We don't make a big deal about it but if I'm shooting my carry weapon I holster another in its place.

Depends......some ranges don't allow for it.....like the Public Safety Training Center near me....but the 2 gun clubs do. They don't jump up and down telling people it's ok but they do.

So in a nut shell, except for the courthouse and the PSTC I CC.

We courteously and quietly ask people not to b/c we are a city funded operation at my range. The range officers have to carry, but not concealed. If your range has armed range officers, and you have no reason not to trust them, dont CC. No point to it when you are in their care (please notice I said, and you have no reason not to trust them!). We've had wackos come out to shoot and pull from holsters we didnt see, sweeping everyone in the process. Its safety, not range folks "flexing their authority". Its the morons that make it a point to scream and shout about CC that makes a range not fun for anyone.

Unless its strickly forbidden, I carry. That said, I live in a rural area and frequent a public range at times, Not only do I CC, I take the bolts from my rifles when I go to check my targets, replace, or paste them.

Crime is on the upswing here, in a rural town of 2500 people, we have had one armed home invasion ( which resulted in the shooting death of the perp.)and mutilpile shots fired at a party in the last month.

I don't do the musical carry pistols thing, and I always carry, so yeah, I CC at the range, and if I want to shoot my carry gun, I have to unholster on the firing line. The ROs don't go ape when someone unholsters a CC piece to take a few shots, people do it all the time. They expect a little common sense, and they usually get it. Of course, this is at Williams Gunsight, and it's the only public range around here, so there's usually a few cops shooting as well, and word gets around quickly to mind your P's and Q's there...

yes

I carry at the range. I may not even shoot my carry gun every session, but I carry it. I shoot at an unsupervised range. It may be different if I was to go to an indoor range.

The public range I shoot at prohibits CCW. I undress in the parking lot and stuff my gun in the range bag. When I leave I get dressed again.
The indoor range I shoot at allows CCW.

Since I shoot at a very rural club range I always keep a loaded gun easily at hand usually in a holster which may or may not be concealed - usually not concealed unless I an doing drills in shooting from concealment. I don't have a cc license but I can carry concealed when on the range, if I wish, as I am on private property.

Yes.

I have two airweight J frames. Given that shooting one is not substantially different from shooting the other, I only really need to shoot one on a given range trip. The one not being shot is kept loaded and ready.

My indoor range does not allow CC, so I abide by their rules - since I value my membership there. Most, if not all of their staff (at least 6 employees) is armed, so I feel relatively safe when I am there.

Yes, I do carry at the range and pretty much anywhere else I can. No sense in disarming there. Since my base reasons for carrying don't change because I'm at the range I don't see why I'd change my behavior. If I'm shooting my carry gun I just shoot it, reload when done and re-holster.
