My work situation is pretty good. The owner is a gun guy and he carries every day. He encourages his employees to get their permits, and allows them to carry at work. Show and tell on new acquisitions is mandatory.
As a practical matter, my main carry gun gets locked in my tool box at the start of the workday, and I rely on my NAA .22 Magnum in a pocket holster. Mostly for the same reasons Bones741 doesn't carry at work, lots of awkward positions and plenty of grease, oil and Brakleen. Small pocket guns in decent holsters work ok, a full size handgun not so much. No state lines near me, so that's not an issue.
If I worked in a place that was unfriendly to guns and concealed carry, then I would have to make a decision about what is more important - the right to self defense or earning a living. I suspect that earning a living would win out.
I consider myself fortunate in that I don't have to make that decision. Not everybody is that lucky.
