Just pondering. I don't, except for carrying a spare backup piece to my Glock 26 9mm. A Glock 29 10mm, just in case of malfunction.

What do you guys and gals do?

My EDC is an LCP Max in warm weather and a Kahr S9 in winter.
But on road trips the main gun is my Ruger SP101 carried in this leather pack slung over my shoulder when out of the car.

I normally carry a 9mm. I have a G19 with the frame chopped to accept G26 magazines. It's my all arounder and the one I normally reach for 1st. With 10 or 12 round mags its pretty concealable, but with 15 or 17 round mags it is a little more shootable. I have other guns and sometimes choose another. If concealability is a concern, I like the G43 or Sig 365.

But this summer we have a long road trip planned that will involve us camping and hiking in Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. I'll also be carrying my Smith M&P Compact in 10mm on that trip.

I go to a 10 round capacity mag gun when going into capacity reduced states that I feel safe to pass thru . Since I don't have CCW for most of those they should be locked away in the hidden truck safe. Some places I completely avoid. Some you can't on trips. Also my less than ten round guns like Walther PPS are smaller and easier to conceal . I do'nt drop below 9mm any more. My home state Oregon actually outlawed mags over 10 rounds off property even for CCW license holders. The draconian travesty is on hold still :(

Some states around here recognize my Idaho Enhanced permit and I don't typically change when I go into or through those states. A few don't recognize my permit and/or have magazine restrictions and onerous storage requirements, so I will typically go to a 10 round capacity pistol and a locking case.

Pretty much this. Depends on where I'm traveling to, there are some states I visit with magazine capacity restrictions, and despite LEOSA, it's not worth the hassle to argue.

Also, going on vacation I often prefer to travel light, easy and inconspicuous, which means a much smaller handgun. Finally, while at home territory I'll frequently carry a revolver or original caliber 1911, when traveling somewhere distant, these days a 9mm pistol of some sort would be easier finding ammo for in a pinch.

I normally carry a glock 19. The only reason that I would change that is if I were going to a state where I was limited to 10 Rounds. In that case I would get some 10 round magazines for my Glock 26 and carry that.

Heck, I changed what I carry frequently so an out of state trip is no big deal.

Last time I flew it was as for work. I was staying at a hotel in Dallas/Ft. Worth. Because it was work I couldn’t carry at work. Not liking leaving my gun in either the rental car or hotel, and the chance of theft by an airline employee did influence my choices. I went with an old Taurus 65 and my NAA mini.

The last time I drove out of state I knew I would have better control of my handguns. So on that trip I carried a 1911, an AMT .45 Backup and my NAA Mini. I also had the ability to take along a long gun.

Since I was driving my Jeep U had “The Perfect Jeep Gun” as a long gun.

If my activities justify a different cartridge or capacity. I will carry a different handgun.

Hiking in Yellowstone, I up the cartridge. Going to a higher crime area, I up the capacity.

I rotate between 2 carry guns. A Ruger LC9s Pro for a pocket carry and a Glock 43X with 15rd mags for OWB carry. I bring both on out of state trips. I will also bring an AR15 with me.

I'm heading to Florida in a few months and may bring my new 308 Ruger SFAR instead of the AR15.

I always carry my Glock 30. But when I go on a road trip, I take my 357 Colt King Cobra. A while back I read an article about an off duty Atlanta cop who inadvertently walked into an armed robbery. He was convinced that he diffused the situation because he had the biggest gun there and they could clearly see it-a full size 1911. Hence, my 357.

I've carried the same sidearm for over 10 years... a Kahr CW9 (or it's mate, the shorter CM9, where concealment is primary.) Most of my out of state trips are to Nevada (relatives...) so I'm traveling across west Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. The wide open border has me a bit concerned, so I've taken to carrying a Springfield HiPower, now, but only when traveling.

I voted no. I carry the same thing everywhere. When my Wife was alive She would always have Her's and I kept an extra magazine for both mine and Her's in the console of both vehicles. Now I just keep an extra mag in my truck.

I carry any one of 4 guns. Not really any particular "rotation" just what I happen to choose. So I wouldn't say I would change what I carry. I would just choose which of those would seem to be best for the trip. I don't travel much any more being on the plus side of elderly so I probably won't worry about it.

About once every 4 years I make the long 2500 mile trek to my favorite small town, Kalispell, Montana . A very cool old western town.

On these trips I add to the Glocks 26 & 29, a Ruger Mini 30 in 7.62 x39, with a 10 round magazine. Then add 2 spare mags for comfort.

It makes for a relaxing round trip!

Later this year we're driving down to Alabama and Georgia to visit friends over a couple weeks. I'll only be bringing along my bug gun that I pocket carry. I should be fine with my little .380 for a few weeks.
