Awesome Site!
Go there, print the Pool targets, and shooting is brand new all over again. Take a friend, and compete, standard pool rules apply. Also, any game you can play with darts, you can play with a 22 (or any gun).

I like speed drills, but that gets expensive in 40. Print off 5 targets on a piece of paper, and double tap each one as fast as possible.

Last year my 22/45 ate ~12k rounds. I bring it mostly when a buddy of mine comes with me to the range, but I still dig it out to practice trigger control and when I don't feel like reloading.

When you get bored of shooting the .22LR at 25 yards, just get yourself an ultra-accurate model of firearm, and move the target out to 225 yards. Many people don't believe that .22LRs are MOA capable. Given a proper combination of firearm, ammo and glass, they are. My Ruger 10/22 HB was. I still kick myself for having sold it.

I have said many times, the .22LR is my all-time favorite caliber!

You don't like shooting .22s?:what:

You ain't right, brother!

I love .22s.

First of all, I shoot a lot of .22s through my Kimber M82 from the standing position at the NRA 50-foot target. My "game" is to shoot 50 to 100 rounds a session, putting 5 rounds (or sometimes 10 -- I'm cheap) in each bull -- working the bolt from the shoulder and not taking the rifle down until the magazine is empty. My standard is "nothing outside the 8-ring." A few thousand rounds of this will dramatically improve your field shooting -- when you hit a deer or elk, and your bolt action rifle "reloads itself" and is back on target without you even thinking of it, you're doing well.

Next, I practice a lot of action shooting with my Colt Ace .22 Conversion Kit -- the .22 makes it easy to track the front sight through the action cycle, and really speeds up your second shot, as well as improving accuracy.

I also shoot other .22s -- notably my Colt Woodsman, which has taken a lot of squirrels. Naturally, I also hunt small game with my Kimber -- which has something of a reputation among the local squirrels.:D

When I'm out on horseback, or just hiking or backpacking, I usually carry the Woodsman. Same when fishing.

The .22 Long Rifle is the cartridge, as far as I'm concerned.

I put more than a quarter of a million rounds through one gun, in a 12 year period of time. At something past 250,000 the transfer bar on it broke. ( It was a Ruger single-six) I put another bar in it and probably fired an additional 50 thousand through it before i finally sold it.

So I guess you could say I like shooting .22 lr. :D

I never tire of chasing smaller and smaller groups with my CZ 452 American. Golf balls, paint balls, and other appropriate targets are always a joy to shoot with a .22 and open sights. My Mk III is used to warm up before shooting centerfire pistols and when the centerfire ammo is used up I finish the day with the Mk III.

I beg You,

Mr Sistema, may I no-american capitalist from Finland like to shoot 22LR-guns, please. Kauko.:uhoh:

. Ruger 10/22 and MkIII. I'm not one to chase the never ending cycle of smaller and smaller groups which seems to be all that's left for them as far as I can see.

<shrug>. Sell them and get something you want. You'll find ready buyers for either.

I like .22, and would really like to get a Mark I,II or III.

I don't think I'll ever stop enjoying myself when I haul out my .22 rifles and pistol. I just won a shotgun I traded for a MkII and it was like discovering a whole new world. $10 for 500 rounds sure beats $12 for 50 of .45 ACP.

I like to take my fiance's old, empty plastic cigarette lighters and try to shoot them at various ranges. Not sure why I chose to start shooting them but she goes through them and the shiny metal top shows up well at medium distances.

Yes. For many reasons
1. Low cost of ammo.
2. Low noise, blast and recoil
3. High quality arms in this caliber tend to be much less expensive than centerfire counterparts.

Also the .22 LR was the first caliber I ever owned and I love it. My first gun was a Marlin, and I fired thousands of rounds in that little rifle. My first handgun was a single six and I remember plinking cans on many a summer afternoon. I have since had virtually every caliber, but I always have a little .22 and still spend hours with them in the woods on many summer days.

Be safe

The only .22lr I have is a Ruger 10/22 but I enjoy it very much. I am planning on adding a Ruger MarkIII pistol & possibly a Henry lever action to the collection.

I like .22's a lot. If you took hunting and SD out of the mix, I would be perfectly happy with nothing but .22 firearms. Well, maybe a shotgun thrown in for pheasant, but other than that, I would be perfectly happy to shoot .22 for the rest of my life.

Mr Sistema, may I no-american capitalist from Finland like to shoot 22LR-guns, please. Kauko.

The .22 should be a joy for all freedom loving people everywhere. Enjoy.

(I hope that you didn't miss the sarcasm in my first post, I tried to use some smileys.)

.22LR is awesome. I prefer centerfire but .22 is so cheap that you can blow through it. I usually shoot 500-1000 rounds per range session, for the same price as 100 rounds of .45ACP.

If you're not having fun shooting .22 any more, do what I did: go to Lowe's and buy two 12"x12" pieces of 1/4" thick steel in the Welding section. Spray paint them with some Safety Orange krylon and plunk them down about 25-50yds downrange. Shooting them results in a very satisfying "CLANK" and they're cheaper than purpose-made steel gun targets. I try to put ten rounds on them in under 5 seconds.

I have a 10/22, a Browning BL-22 lever action, and Browning Buckmark rifle. I love the Buckmark. The BL-22 trigger is a little bit too stiff.

What I am missing is a 22LR bolt action. Can anyone recommend one which is the highest quality? I'm looking for something that it would be a pleasure to cycle the bolt on, every time.

I enjoy it more and more when I go to the store to buy ammo. Especially when shooting I have a habit of counting the cost of ammo as I shoot it.

I particularly like the low noise and recoil of .22s. The centerfires around are all defensive guns, not fun guns. The .22s are the fun guns. The only thing I don't like about .22s is that loading mags gets to be boring, so I'm looking into tube mags and .22 revolvers...

My first rifle was a single shot Remington .22 That was in 1954. I cannot imagine being without a .22 rifle and pistol.

Absolutely! Do I shot them religiously? No. I kinda go in cycles with them. I'll shot the piss out of them for a period of time and then I'll put them away. But, I never fail to enjoy the times when I do take 'em out.

I think I might get bored after awhile if .22LR was ALL I had to shoot, but its cheap, fairly accurate and damned fun. I always take a .22 rifle and revolver along on range trips.

I really enjoy my centerfire weapons but you can't beat the price of .22 ammo when you just want to blast away.

Peeps are fun to shoot too!

Look up the current federal regulations on firearms. BATF regulation number 2342, subsection 8, paragraph 12 clearly states that any gun owner owning more then two firearms must own and enjoy at least one .22 caliber firearm. Who am I to argue.

I love .22 caliber firearms. Give me a fine .22 bolt action or a nice Smith K22 revolver and I am in shooting nirvana
