Its a strange question.
Excluding the opinions of conspiracy nutcases, doomsday sayers and anarchists, would it surprise you to know the government has a plan to deny guaranteed rights under the Constitution to the entire populace?
It usually happens by attrition and is allowed by the apathy of an American people. Slowly and consistently rights are narrowly whittled and shaved by legislative, administrative, judicial and executive action and inaction under the guise of the color of law.
Blatant violations such as the confiscations in New Orleans or of a particular class or group of people are a bit harder to ignore. These incidents usually inspire legislation to prevent future occurrences, though these laws are always broken with ease by those who care not for the law.
U.S. Ninth Circuit Judge Alex Kozinski pointedly observed in the recent case of Silveira v. Lockyer: The prospect of tyranny may not grab the headlines the way vivid stories of gun crime routinely do. But few saw the Third Reich coming until it was too late. The Second Amendment is a doomsday provision, one designed for those exceptionally rare circumstances where all other rights have failed — where the government refuses to stand for reelection and silences those who protest; where courts have lost the courage to oppose, or can find no one to enforce their decrees. However improbable these contingencies may seem today, facing them unprepared is a mistake a free people get to make only once.
Now getting back to the thread title: The overthrow of the government.
It seems apparent that the farmers, businessmen, lawyers, doctors and soldiers who created this country had such a distrust of the government, that they allocated for the overthrow of this government by any means needed if circumstances warranted.
Remember that we are talking of the government, not the country. Even elected officials taking the oath of their office do not take an oath to uphold the government of the United States, but uphold the Constitution.
Intent and lawfulness established, most of the citizen militia does not have a plan. To be honest, given the fact that I have a modest number of firearms with an adequate amount of ammunition, along with food and water to provide for my family for an extended period of time; I'm not sure if I have a sufficient plan of action to provide the execution if I am called upon to reestablish the Republic and the ideals that it is founded upon.
So put up or shut up, I'm looking for suggestions and comments.
Thanks for your help.
