Do you have to 'justify' your gun purchases?

Not really....

With that said, I am not about to buy an elephant gun for our TX sized deer or a Desert Eagle for Conceal Carry. So it does have to have a legitimate use for the types of things I would use a firearm for. Course like other posters I have all my bases covered 10 fold.
"Just for fun" is not a legitimate reason to do things in your world? Seems to me that would lead to situations of no trips to Disney World, no new bicycles for your kid's birthday and a myriad of other things that do nothing other than bring a little happiness and fun.

I'd wager most of the guns bought don't have a "legitimate" need. I mean who legitimately needs another 9mm when they already have ten of the things.

I have a friend who has a .458 Winchester Magnum ... I've shot it once and he can have it. He's never shot it at anything other than southern Whitetail deer and admits he'll never go on safari. But he wanted it, it is a beautiful early '60s gun and it is fun to see people's faces when he touches that thing off.

Justify? No.

But I do have buyers regret on any unnecessary purchase over $200.
