Do you keep a car gun? If so.. what and where?

When working (can't carry @ work) I transport my gun in my briefcase to the car/truck.

Usually drive an '01 Dodge Ram. Has the buckets/bench, where the center is the flip-up consol/middle seat.
Put a Bianchi holster in-between the seat crack (of the truck!!!:neener: ) on the right side w/ a lanyard tied to the bottom of the holster and the base of the seat frame to keep the holster in place upon draw.
Easily accessible and fairly well concealed.

Truck is the quad-cab and have bolted an old 1/4" steel cash drop-box to the floor under the rear seat (keyed lock) for secure storage when unattended.

Weasel,
I get the distinct impression you like Sigs. Wait a minute!! How did that Smith get in there??
Will

Oh yes... me lika de SIG's!

The little Smithy (AKA The Wrist-buster) is my hold out piece, carried in a Galco ankle holster, lightweight, small and five shots of Corbon .357 magnum +P.

make sure it is not in conflict with your CCW. Here in KA, we have the CCW gun SPECIFIED by model and serial number. You DON'T want to have a different gun stashed that is not on the CCW.

Here in NV that's not a problem. While what you can carry for CCW is specified, it has nothing to do with weapons in vehicles. There is no law that even refers to weapons in vehicles so whatever you have is ok. North Las Vegas and Boulder have laws against weapons in vehicles (legal CCW is ok) but most of NV does not.

Mostly I only carry my CCW, sometimes add the S&W 640. I try and move my CCW Kimber further forward on my hip so it's available should I need it while sitting - if it's back too far I'd never get it out. :)

Okay, I'll rain on the parade. I personlly think car guns are a bad idea. Guns belong on people and under their direct control. It would take a skilled thief about 15 seconds to be inside your glove box or console. Leave them there if you want, but I won't.

I pack a backup piece in the car on long trips. 44 Mag.

It's not left unsupervised. I have a solid habit of sitting where I can watch my vehicle in restraunts and always lock my doors anytime I exit. Gun on board or not.

Have to agree with Captain Bligh. The quickest way for a BG to get a gun is in the parking lot of your local Wal Mart. In my part of the world, that means about every third vehicle. The one's with NRA or "Cold Dead Fingers" or thin blue line stickers are pretty much a sure thing. As I stated in an earlier post, I had a lockbox fabricated for my POVs. (It's bolted to the floor) If I leave a gun in the vehicle it's in that lockbox! I keep my police car in my drive when I'm not on duty. You think there's any guns in it? Nope!! It's a bother, but I carry them in with me when I go off duty. Over cautious, probably, but that's just my nature. Maybe that's why I have lived so long!
