Do you like all the different colored guns nowadays?

Not my cup of tea, but I think choice is good, and I agree that having a variety available is good for fence-sitters who may have grown up being taught that black guns are scary guns or black guns are for criminals.

Personally, even though I'm 33, I like the old-school look of metal and wood the best. While how it functions is obviously the most important thing, all other issues equal, I prefer the looks of a 1911 or Makarov to Glock and pals.

Every gun I own is either black, blued, or matte stainless. Having said that, I would much rather own a gun that's got a digicam or OD/tan Cerakote over one that is nickeled or chromed. For my tastes, nickel and chrome are just tacky.

Know what nickel and chrome look good on? Me neither.

I do not know that I have ever seen a gun I did not like.

There are many firearms for which I have no use and no desire, but even when I do not care for them, I still like them - after all, they are guns!

It's okay.

I think pink and purple guns are in general quite silly, but many female shooters like them so it doesn't bother me. The more female shooters especially those who decide to carry, the better IMHO. I'm not so hot on guns that are red, orange, etc. with the exception of the S&W X-frames with the bright colored grips. That might make them easier to find in the dark if a bear is a 'comin!

Depending on the color and the gun, I like the OD and coyote/tan colored guns sometimes, as well as various shades of gray. I really like the new tan colored Beretta M9A3 for example, and think the Marine's new tan 1911 is really sharp.

A gun salesman I talked to (one who actually knew what he was talking about) about pink guns told me this:

Putting pink guns in a store greatly increases gun sales to women. Women's general interest in guns increased when the store had a "feminine touch." With that said, although the pink guns were often a discussion point, most women preferred a more subdued traditional color and protested against male friends who said they should get one. Essentially, pink guns make the store more approachable to a lady who is allergic to traditional hyper-testosterone environments. But they still usually don't buy them.

From this angle, I like the new colors. Having more shooters in the hobby makes it better for all of us. But I wouldn't own one.

Black or silver color. Period. End of story.
FDE if I HAD to but certainly not preferred.
Yes I'm an old guy.

A few years ago I would say all pistols should be black/blued. Lately stainless slides have been starting to catch my eye. But that is about as far as I would go.

My wife has 8 pistols and 1 rifle in my safe all but 2 are pink or purple.
She likes them and now she is into shooting. Since her new little fashion pieces came into her life she is now my range partner.
My daughter has a pink 10/22. She is my newest range partner!! LOL

Not a fan of the bright colors don't mind the olive drab and sand colors as much........but not a big deal to me either way.

Now the goofy decorative stuff sig does like the diamond plate and tribal stuff irritates me much more. Mainly cause its the only version left sitting left on the lgs shelf cause no one else wants it either but the neck beard tattooed big holes in ears lobes types of fellas. So i can't buy the model I want cause it isn't there and the lgs guy is trying to sell me the tribal one cause he knows he ain't gonna sell it any time soon. I just don't get that at all.....but too each their own.

I don't really understand FDE or Tan type colors, unless you chose it just because you happen to like the color.

I am talking about it branded as "combat" or whatever, and offered to government. If it's to supposed to be a part of a camoflauge, why would you pick a color that is fairly on the bright side, and only blends in well in one enviromnent?

For a concealed pistol, black or other matte dark colors make much more sense. No one is supposed to see the pistol anyway, and in case of accidental momentary exposure, bright colors draw much more attention.

I am not saying it is wrong to pick whatever color you like. I am strictly speaking from utility stand point.

I don't even get the FDE name. It's "flat." But, there is nothing "dark," or "earth" about it.

Not bothered a bit man. I was just curious. I couldn't care less what other people buy.

It won't bother me until black, blued, or stainless finishes aren't an option at all.... which won't happen.

Choices are good.

I have OD and FDE. I don't want them to all be the same color (black)

I personally don't mind a colored gun, black, tan, OD green I really don't care. What I hate is two toned guns, I want it one solid color not one that looks like I t was thrown together out of a parts bin.
Everybody's different. :)

Kodiak,

I didn't mean you. There are others in this thread that this really bothers and I can't wrap my head around why.
I feel the same way about fan boys, caliber fan boys etc...
Why would someone else's purchase upset someone? It really puzzles me. It's humorous to watch someone get so up in arms about it. At the same time it infuriates me when someone chastises someone else because of their purchase or the company that responds to market demand.

But this is how I feel about most things in life. If it doesn't affect you personally, if it doesn't harm or affect someone else, then why is it any of your business.

Me asking for your opinion or advice is one thing. Me considering my opinions is another.

I love the colors. My niece and nephew are very much color driven kids. They got excited about learning to shoot bb guns but when it came time to step up to a 22 it was a Google search marathon for pink, purple, yellow, green, clear, and Even polka dot crickett and rascal rifles. If it gets kids excited about shooting then I'm for it because kids grow into voters, and gun friendly voters keep the gun grabbers at bay.

Do I want such a beast, not necessarily, but I have seen some really nice guns lately. Sig 238 has a few truly magnificent finishes. I typically don't like plastic guns, and metal is supposed to be blued, parked, or stainless, but some anodized guns are looking good. It's the way of the world. The model A ford as well as others were originally offered in only 1 color...we see where we are at now.

I like some of the colors offered. Having different colored furniture on an AR instead of black plastic makes it look better, IMHO.

But an AK or SKS deserves wood.

Polymer framed guns, I'm okay with the various subdued, earth tones. I wear a lot of brown and grey and black and green, so a pistol that blends in with my clothes, even carried concealed, wouldn't be anything I'm opposed to. I find them aesthetically pleasing.

I have one AR with a tan/ brown finish (its actually a home job of Rust-O-Leum Nutmeg, satin finish) and another I'm building with OD green furniture.

For non-polymer parts, I prefer them to be in their natural state, as it left from the manufacturer. Having said that, Charter Arms has an Undercover model in OD green and black tiger stripes that I really like.

I don't like them; nobody in my family does and that includes several of women. To me they make guns look like toys.

But hey, I like bright green Pistachio ice cream as well as pink Sorbet so who knows, one day I might favor a sweet little Chartreuse AR. After all, Flat Dark Earth and Drab are colors too.
