Do You See Yourself With More Than a Dozen Guns?

WOW I'm jealouse!

I could easily see more than that, a lot more, but first I need the winning lottery ticket

Currently:

1 MAKAROV CCW
1 Winchester 12 gauge pump
1 SAR 1

1 Savage .308 (coming very soon)

Just the basics. How do all of you afford such extensive collections?
Still want a pocket pistol, 357 revolver, lever probably 357, Mosin nagant, FAL, M1 and a whole host of others.

I could see it. Not for a couple years, but at my current rate, I will have more than a dozen in a few years.

Jedi_7.62- afford them? How could I afford to NOT have them?

Seriously though, I was general manager for a pretty good sized (for California) gun store and worked my discount on a regular basis. Bought all my pre-ban stuff right out of high school in the mid '80s when they weren’t NEARLY expensive as they later became ("Wow! $800 for a German rifle I've never heard of before? What the heck is a H&K 91 anyway? I think I'll just buy another Colt AR...).
Missed out on an AUG though...oh well.

And then I started collecting vintage S&W revolvers (from the early Numbered Models in the ‘50s to when they stopped making square butts in 1992)- and you could get a NIB (technically used) S&W any caliber for pretty reasonable prices.

Unfortunately California, in their infinite wisdom, has decided that any handgun manufactured before they started that damn silly testing procedure about four years ago, is inherently unsafe for the shooter. Morons. So my collecting has been severely curtailed

I haven't got that many pistols but if I keep buying old military rifles like I'm doing I'll have more than I know what to do with. I couldn't imagine getting rid of any of them, they're all special in one way or another.

Can't see myself having LESS than a Dozen-Dozen guns. I'm not picky...I want one of everything ever made or even thought about being made.

12 or less?

Naw, I can't see going below 12. I've had offers to buy my .44 maggie cuz I don't shoot it anymore. Seems I just can't part with it.:D In fact the only 2 guns I ever sold were a "junk" gun and a "not good enough for me and I just bought something way better" gun. :scrutiny: The rest are all fine firearms and I'll probably never sell them. In fact I got my sights on a P-32 now to complete my CCW collection. Well, maybe not "complete";) , but I will be very happy with my carry choices as soon as I get the next piece.

Hmm... let's see....

1. Mossberg 590
2. Rock River AR-15
3. Mossberg Model 44 .22
4. Romanian Model 1969 .22
5. Spanish FR-8
6. CZ - 75BD
7. CZ - 75D Compact
8. Beretta Neos .22
9. Coming Soon CMP M1 Garand

I still want a

1. Benelli Nova SP
2. M1 Garand in .308
3. Kimber Custom Classic
4. CZ - 75 .40 Compact (when it comes out)
5. Rock River Tactical UTE
6. FAL
7. SAR - 2

Man, I guess I outta start saving my lunch money. :D This doesn't even take into account that I have C&R. Oh, oh, I may need a bigger safe. :)

1. Why in the world would anyone not count .22s?

2. How could a dozen guns be enough? Would a dozen books be enough? A dozen articles of clothing? A dozen kitchen utensils? A dozen tools in one's tool kit?

"Do your see..."

Only when I look in the mirror :D

I like old military firearms so I expect to beat that number easily.

I just suprised myself when I counted to 13. I mean, That seems like a fairly large number, but there are so many more on my wish list. And I have sold a couple in the last few years.
I need more guns because I have ammunition that dosen't fit in any of the ones I have.;)

I hope to never have less than 12. Every once in a while some "gotta have" gun comes along and I look through the collection to see if anything can be sold to help fund the new gun. I've sold a few in the past and regretted most of those sales. Now I'm at the point where I can't sell any of them. They're all special for different reasons and the "want list" keeps getting longer.

"Those who don't see themselves with more then a dozen guns, ... NEED A BIGGER MIRROR!!" :D

I see myself with about a dozen guns, no more, but a bit more if I do count the .22LR's... which I will have in every action I own.

when asked how many guns he owned, an assistant to Sen. Phil Gramm said "Like most gun owners, he owns more guns than he needs, but less guns than he wants."

Only a dozen, I have over a dozen pistols, I currently would not live without any of them. I have the truck pistol, the camper pistol, the...well you get the picture.

Shotguns are like golf clubs, you need one for every situation.

Who could have too many rifles. I love rifles.

Charles:D

I can easily picture myself with more than four dozen guns.

Workin' hard on five dozen, too. (There's another show in town this weekend. :D )

Every time I shoot a revolver, Sig, Glock, USP or even the almighty 1911, I only remind myself how fortunate I am to be armed with my Langdonized Beretta and P7.

I currently only have two firearms (the first two on the list), but I think I could see myself with a dozen pretty easily:
  1. beretta 92fs
  2. colt ar-15 hbar
  3. compact 1911
  4. m1 garand
  5. milspec 1911
  6. armalite ar-10
  7. m14/m1a
  8. sig 239
  9. keltec p32
  10. remington 700
  11. beretta 9000
  12. pre-ban m4gery
  13. m1903 military bolt-gun
  14. mil-surp mauser
  15. barret m82a1
  16. registered receiver M16
  17. fn fal
[/list=1]none of these include .22s, either, which I need to pad my collection and to use for teaching others about guns.

Nope. I see myself...

with a dozen more guns. Think I'll slow down when I reach 100 of 'em. :D

I have around 50 now. I buy one every December in honor of the Brady Bill, whether I need it or not.

I traded away an old S&W .38 spl and then discovered it was a collectors item. :banghead:
then I traded away my security six and discovered it's now a collectors item. :banghead:
then I traded away my Rem 660 and just a couple months ago discovered it's a collectors item. :banghead:
and I traded away my stainless S&W DAO 9mm with the preban mags and discovered that somepeople even consider THAT to be a collectors item. :banghead:

so that does it, no more trading anything - just accumulate, and now that I'm married (in my late 40's) I have to work twice as hard to make sure my wife has a good collection too, right? :D

In the past week I've done a complete inventory of the firearms I have and those I've traded. That was a little shocking. Happy to say I'm pushing three dozen.

However, one thing I did notice was I've eliminated odd calibers. Now I can grab four different boxes of ammo and shoot just about everything I own.

Six
