((( YOU BET ))) I bought a brand new Marlin 39A in 1963. I still hunt and just go plinking with that little rifle quite often. Still shoots and looks as good as it did as when I first got it, 50 years ago.

Yep. Remington 700ADL in .308. Purchased it when I was 16...walked into Gemco in Sacramento in 1971 and laid 110$ on the counter of the sporting goods department... the sales person handed me the gun. No waiting, no background check, no questions. Those were the days.

.

I do, BSA Meteor .22 Pellet gun bought thru Herter's catalog in 1969.

1st firearm - H&R Partner 20 ga / 30-30 changeable barrels break action single shot my Parents bought for me in 1973.

Still got 'em both and shoot occasionally. Kids can figure out who gets them when I'm gone :D

Sadly no, but my little cousin does. It is an NEF 20 gauge that I got for my 5th birthday and gave to him about 10 years later for his 8th.

I do not have the Daisy BB gun I started with. I cut that down and made a rough mares leg out of it, yes it was functional but it was not pretty. The internal barrel tube was tricky but a 10 year old outfitted with a hacksaw and a hammer got it done.

I do still have my next step up. A Ted Williams single shot lever action .22, I believe it was from 71 or 72. It's my wife's favorite gofer getter.

Sort of. I gave my first gun, a chipmunk 22lr rifle bought for me by my father, to my daughter with the stipulation that she share it with her brother. I'm just storing it for her.

I do - though I can't for the life of me remember which one it is! It's either a 10/22 walnut(ish) carbine or a Mossberg 500 bantam 20 gauge. I got them both around the same time when I was 8 or so but cannot remember which came first. I still shoot both of them too. That little mossberg with the youth stock is great for what i like to call "taking a walk with a gun" in case the inspiration to shoot something strikes me.

Yep, I still have it. Mossberg bolt action 410 three shot magazine. Came with two screw on chokes, mod and full. Christmas 1956 if I remember. I was dissappointed because I was wishing for a 20 ga double. Anyway, I took it out after lunchand took a few squirels and still kinda dissappointed. What I did not know at the time was that my dad wanted me to learn how to hunt. Turns out that that damn little gun did teach me a lot. Not only that, but it has taught 13 young relatives the same lesson. I finally have it back and it is remarkably in damn near the same condition as new. Now getting ready for the same lessons for my grandsons.

Well the BB gun didn't last long enough to think about. I shot the guts out of it!
My first cartridge gun...yes, its still in my safe and on my shoulder quite often. Its a Savage mod 24, .22/410 . I love that little gun. Sometimes I think I carried it a million miles hunting rabbit and squirrel. I'm not sure my F-150 would haul all the ammo I've shot through it. I lost the rear sight elevation piece while pushing through some vines. My cousin cut one from a sliver of metal. Been using it since about '63.

Looking forward to handing it off to my grandson in a few years.

Still have mine, Back in the 52 when Granpa died I was 7 years old. Granma gave me his old Winchester low wall in 32 rimfire. Shot and killed my first deer that fall with it. Back them ammo could still be had for it, I only have part of a box for it now.
Because it was Granpas and Grandma gave it to me, that gun will be mine until I die. Then its in the will and my first Grandson gets it.

Can't let too many posts go by without another

Yup - H&R Topper 20 gauge - still my grouse gun after 30 years.

Yes, that is, the first one I bought. My dad, nor any other relative did not give me a real gun of any kind. In fact my dad and uncles never let me shoot their guns. The first gun I shot, an M-1 Garand was in the Army. I bought my first gun after seeing a Sears ad in the paper for a .22 semi-auto rifle with scope for $79. Shortly afterward Sears stopped selling firearms!

Still have mine. Remington .22lr bolt action rifle. My dad gave it to me for getting straight As in about 6th or 7th grade. Would be about 40 years ago now. It's in better shape than I am...

Still got my first. Its a single shot lithgow 22 I got when I was 13 or so which my 10 yo now claims as his. Also got my second and third wich was a boito sxs that is shot out now and a longbranch 303 that is still going strong.the only rifle ive ever moved on was a savage mk 2 that wouldnt shoot and got replaced with a henry h001 that shoots great and will go to the grave with me. Unless I have grandkids one day I might part with if they want it.
