Hmmm...

I keep a folder in My front pants pocket, and My pistol in the car while I'm at work.
That's about it.
I'd like to keep a pistol on Me. We've gotten a lot of threats and have had some individuals show up looking to put a hurtin' on someone.
At least I have My knife, hands, and brain on Me at all times.
Could be worse.
:D

Only thing that applies to me is the 2 knives thing.

I carry 2 Benchmade folders. A 960 Osbourne SLV on my right pocket, and a fullsize 551 Griptilian on my right back pocket.

The 551 has a combo edge, so I use that for cutting boxes, cardboard, tape etc. Whatever comes into the warehouse for inspection.

The 960 is used for more "cleaner" cutting activities. Letters, paper, scotch tape, etc...

I used to never see the point of carrying 2 knives. I see it now. :D

Gerber Heresy(sp, its over -there- and I'm lazy) air ranger in my right pocket, Gerber LED light at my left and when I'm in 'da bush' a Gerber non folder on my belt to boot.

Is any sturdy, leather belt tactical, even if Chuck Shumer is wearing it? I wear an old, cheap belt at work that might hold a gun fairly well if I tried. Elsewhere, I have on a beautiful, thick, harness leather belt that I bought at some little store in Arkansas - just plain, dark brown, no silly designs or big silver plates on it. It would make a great gunbelt, if I put a great gun on it.

Im not voting yet do to the lack of check boxes. I do wear a lot of "tactical gear" but because its useful. I wear 5.11 pants or shorts, wilderness ring belt, 2 pocket knives, multitool, surefire e2 flashlight, and some sort of boots(usually merril, asolo, or coleman). Im not wearing this stuff for "tactical" use though(I really hate the misuse of the word tactical). I wear 5.11 pants due to the pocket placement; I carry pocket knives for the multitude of cutting chores(serrated navigator, and some sort of axis lock); multitool - any questions; surefire e2 flashlight - our merchandise trailor is really dark and sometimes my photon doesnt cut it; and the boots are because they are comfortable and provide more ankle support. Oh yes, and the gun belt...after that list of gear how else would i hold my pants up :).

Tetleyb,
Just curious about the five mags, do you carry a single stack auto as primary? Where do you carry the two extra mags? I carry a trunkful of extra ammo along with the patrol rifle, but only three mags on the belt. That gives me an ammo load of 40 rds on my person. When I carry a single stack, I sometimes carry an extra mag in my cargo pocket, which gives me an ammo load of 33rds. I feel like a pack mule as it is, would like to carry more but have to draw the line somewhere.

My skin is coyote brown. (except on full moons when I turn into a two-tone tactical ninja critter)

Maybe I should skip trying to buy all the brown gear and walk around naked.

Why the low number of OC reports? That's probably a more useful tool than the clippy knife for many incidents. High end instructrors stress carrying it.

So, I have an OC, Surefire, clippy knives, gun belt. Shoes are New Balance cross trainers or similar. None are particularly significant.

Interestingly, people ask about the flashlight. I say that it's really cool and a gadget. It's a guy thing. Then most get bored. Few ask about the clippy knife. Once in awhile, someone in the know catches on to it.

I've chosen the clippy knife over the OC as most plastic wire ties refuse to come undone with even a hearty blast of OC.

Just a clippy knife, a pen, and a cellphone.

"Why the low number of OC reports?"

Well because as I mentioned previously, I wear this stuff because I use it in my job. Some of it, we are required to wear. None of it is for personal protection in the sense you mention.

Well due to my job I have to wear a class b uniform 99% of the time. But when the occasion calls for it and I do get to wear civilian type clothing. I wear 5.11 pants, Oakley Si Boots and I carry my Surefire E2, and my wilderness 5 stitch. I do carry my Benchmade Mini Grip all the time. Away from work I put my DeSantis Tuck This on and place my EAA 10mm Compact in it. Am I a GEARDO, umm yep I am. So what, you dont have to wear it if you dont want to.

Hate to see it come to that. Do y'all wanna pitch in, and buy Skunky some brown threads? In any case, carrying concealed when naked would be...painful.

Is it just me, or does it seem like everybody and his brother-in-law has a knife clipped on somewhere? Not the people on this thread, I mean a large percentage of the men I see.

Yes, pretty much everyone I know wears some kind of clip on knife. I regularly see women with them in their back pocket. They may have them other places, but I am usually looking at their back pockets.

Durn near all of the above. (Though, I *wish* my uniform pants were BDUs or 5.11s...)

Of course, I'm a security guard for a US military installation in the middle east, so your mileage may vary. :D

Would I wear my gunbelt to the office, and play with my SureFire light while sitting in my cubicle? Um, no.

Tactical:

Item(s) you happen to have on you when the brown stuff hits the fan.

ie, the .32 auto in your pocket, vs the custom 1911 in the trunk, when the dirtball says "Give it up!".

:D

I look pretty much like the general office/computer guy at work. Khaki pants, no boots, just brown or black shoes (Doc Martens), normal belt, just because I haven't felt like affording a gunbelt, and a don't carry much IWB anyway.

However, there is always a rescue knife (bright yellow!) clipped in my left pocket, and a small .380 sized bulge in the right pocket. My work bag has the surefire, but my little cell phone holster has the micro maglite, very small multitool, and some flossers. :)

I guess you can say that I don't do the usual pants/boots tactical stuff though. All my sunglasses cost $9.00, and I don't wear a watch.

I dont wear oc to work because Im not carrying all this gear for defense. It is all tools that I find useful in my day to day job. The j-frame and p-32 in my pocket are for self defense needs :). As for the clip knives, I am definitly seeing a lot more of them in the last three years than I have before that. It seems that a lot of the slipjoint and sak carrying crowd has discovered the joy of a easily carrried, easily opened, strong lock folder.

Yes and no, acoording to this group I am more of a "tactical" poser...

Pants are split between blue jeans and khaki BDU's. Looking at getting a coupla pairs of 5.11's or the Cabela's equivalent (any experiences?) for practical reasons. I could end up on the floor wrestling with a kid at any time, and BDU's, jeans, etc hold up better than Dockers.

90% of the winter is spent in either Magnum or Redwing boots. Looking at the Rocky Portland to replace the Magnums (size 15 is very hard to find). In the summer it is more shorts and tennis shoes.

Pockets are usually filled with the following: CRKT KISS with a Wharncliffe blade, Zippo lighter handed down by my grandfather, Streamlight Key-Mate, and un-tactical brown leather wallet.

My personal keys have a scarred up kubotan on them and my work keys are usually attached to a belt loop with a semi-tactical poser carabiner.

My pocket gun stays in the car while at work, usually accompanied by a service-size sidearm.

A Gerber multi-tool rides in an outside pocket on my briefcase.

Almost forgot the belt, a 5 year old Safariland velcro in basketweave left over from my private security days. Soon to be replaced with a Wilderness 1.5" belt.

I carry a CRKT Red Dog folder, clipped to my front pocket. I do not consider a pocket knife "tactical".
