I am getting so mad and upset because I have been trying to buy a Bersa Thunder for the past month, and cannot find one.

Here is my situation... the town I live in, had NO gunshops at all. The town I work in, had one but the stock is so limited, and what they do have is priced INCREDIBLY high.

I have looked at gunbroker, however the FFL they have listed in my area, has never answered his phone when I have called. The other guy in town who would do FFL, has moved to Florida.

I am frustrated. :banghead:

:banghead:

Dude, that really sucks. Would it be possible to find someone in Illinois that is selling one and do a private party transfer?

Another Solution: Emmigrate to the United States of America!

:neener:

No but I am haveing trouble going class 3. The cheif of police and the head state trooper can't decide who the CLEO is . And than you have the CWO of the M.P.'s trying to throw his hat in the ring .

Have you tried gunbroker and auction arms websites? (edit: should've read more closely - shotgun news has a list too.) They have lists of those willing to do transfers. You can either buy off the auction site or have one of these folks order for you. Seems there are enough members from IL that someone knows something, though you may need to make a fair bit of a drive to achieve your goal.

Where abouts in Illinois? If Northwest, I could point you to a couple dealers that could help.

all the Bersas came up not in stock :( also I did search for a dealer within 20 miles of me, came up 0. :banghead: I need to move!

Dear Shel!

Get your own FFL. I have at least two friends who have done that in the last few months and, for them, it has worked quite well. Of course there will be the inevitable paperwork that the government requires for everything but it sure does solve the problem you have. I suggest you "Google" for federal firearm license. There are at least two sites that will, for a fee, (about $25.00 I think) outline the process for you; show you the proper forms and steps to take; and provide you guidance. My son-in-law's brother just did this and it works for him. Good shooting;)

I currently live in the UK (a mistake I plan to fix soon) so Owning Firearms is completely Out of the Equation...:(

Ugh, I'm in MA.... scary pistols are banned, as are scary rifles. It blows. There have to be like 20 safeties on a pistol for it to be legal here, and even COPS have to use pistols like that! All that I've talked to hate it.

similar problem here, too

there is no gunstore in my town either. there is a walmart, but they are rifles and shotguns only. the 'big city' about 50 miles away, has two gun stores. they are way too expensive $600.00 to $700.00 for a glock at one. the other one is expensive and his selection is always very limited. either will order pretty much what you want, but at their prices. they are both expensive on reloading componets, too. over $20.00 for a pound of powder, and $2.50+ a hunnert, for primers. one repackages plated bullets for $12.00 per hundred, and that's for 9MM.
i can usually find decent prices at the gunshows. problem is frequently i am unable to attend 'cause of work. either that or due to the fact that i am financially embarrassed at the time of the gunshow. it is hard to save for gunshows. when i get a few hundred bucks ahead, the missus wants to do something foolish with it like pay bills, buy food, or go to the doctor or something. it is hard to convince her to let me use our savings for a gun.

I have almost given up on the Bersa, I THINK I can get my hands on a Glock pretty easily... the gunshop in the town I work at least used to sell them, a few months ago I went in and fondled one, and drooled on it for a while. I saw what I am getting back on my income tax, I might spring for the Glock... It's hard to justify to myself spending that much $$$ on something, especially when I could have 2 Bersas for what the Glock would cost me, but if it is something I am willing to bet my life on, should I really put a pricetag on it?

all the Bersas came up not in stock also I did search for a dealer within 20 miles of me, came up 0. I need to move!

There's a way where you can be notified when they come back in via email.

In my experience, they usually cycle their inventory within a few weeks.

Does anybody else feel its about impossible to buy a gun because of where you live?

I used to feel that way when I lived in NYC.
Florida on the other hand...is GREAT! :D

Maybe you should open a gun shop.

Standing Wolf has a point ... looks to me like you'd have little competition.

There has to be other people in your position in your area who could become your customers.

While my first thought was to tell you to move to America, you could actually be a force for RKBA in your area ... plus make a living and have lots of cool toys ;)

Distance is nothing compared to anal laws.

I can't buy older guns which aren't on the CA approved list nor can I take advantage of the sunset of the AWB.

dairycreek, its illegal to get an FFL for yourself. You must be in the business of selling in order to get a Type 01 FFL.

Shel, my town has nothing but pi$$-poor examples of pawn shops for firearms. However, the town north of me has about 4 of them!

I hope you succeed in your quest soon.:)

MD

i feel the same way. Not b/c there are not gun stores here, but because of the laws here. All new handguns sold in MD must have an integrated lock. since most guns don't have this feature, i'm SOL if i want something new. i think only glock, sig, and taurus have models with locks. and since MD is such a small state, i doubt many gun companies will develop integrated lock just for MD sales. beretta is build in MD, but i can't get a new one. ugh!
