my father in law has been burning up a fair amount of 270 brass lately, and I, scrounger that I am, pick it up up (along with everything else at the range) but does anybody reload for it? I don't know anyone who does and I hate to throw away perfectly good brass.

I do! I just bought another 100 for $20.99 per 50 pack. Thats new Winchester never fired.

No I don't have a .270, but you can probably sell it. Brass is like gold these days.

wwb. I think. he only shot 25 this time out, but he keeps generating at a fair pace. I just didn't know if it was worth picking up or not. I know he has some nickeled federal he has yet to shoot up.

It looks like it is going for about $19/100 for once fired .270 at oncefiredbrass.com
It is definitely worth picking up.

I leave no brass behind when I hit the range.

Brass is Brass, even berdan primed common calibres, if not concidered reloadable for eccomical reasons. If you aquire enough, 10 or 20 pounds sold to a metal recylcer could knock a big chunk off the next reloading components order, at the very least.

But popular calibres like 270win and such, which don't have supply of military once fired brass, to satisfy demand from reloaders, can fetch worthwhile prices, just for picking it up on range trips.

Reloaders of scare/uncommon calibres will pay good prices also, for once fired boxer brass, if they know where to find who's selling it.

Like many, I shoot .270. I rarely (read that virtually never) go to public ranges, primarily because there aren't any in my area, but I do know that .270 brass is not very common on the ground. Consider the numbers: If I'm lucky, I can get 10 reloads per case. That means that as an average shooter, I need at least 100 new cases per year (of .270, not to mention .243, 6.5x55, etc, etc). In otherwords, of course there is a demand (it drops off when that nickel plated stuff is talked about). Hey, shoot me a price in the Private Messages area and you may make some $.
