Does anybody use a gun rack anymore?

Sad, but true. As a kid growing up in the late 1960s, I remember visiting some family friends who had numerous rifles - some of them custom jobs with fancy wood stocks and such - on racks above the fireplace. I think that was about the last time anyone did that.

I keep an old antique unusable shotgun and a black powder Hawken rifle in an antique rack on the wall. I like the decoration and the conversation they develop. If the conversation is good and the person trustworthy, the rest of the guns come out for show and tell.

Milk, that is a great idea, wonder why I didn't think about that. Probably old black powder rifles, would add to the rustic look on the conversation room (family room, den, etc...) and provide a method of breaking the ice with those whom I am unfamiliar about their firearms history or are less tolerant of our rights, maybe even a chance to put a black powder in their hands and let them feel a gun (probably the first time in their life).

OP: yes, I have gun racks but I do not really use them anymore, aside from the one in the closet (a standing rack) I keep the .22 and usually a M91/30 or similar milsurp/old rifle.
