P229 in .357Sig, one spare mag, Buffalo Bore 125G HP. Shoot a P226X6L1 and P220X6L1 in USPSA. Former SigArms employee in the LE division.

I briefly thought about carrying my P226. But the fact is I just plain don't shoot that first (decocked) shot very well and that 1st shot needs to be on target. I do carry a HK VP9 striker fire which affords me the same trigger pull for 1st and all. I know I could carry the P226 cocked, but with no additional safety option I am reluctant. And for that matter, I think the safety features on striker fired pistols is minimal at best. So, the determining factor was the VP9 trigger pull and the slightly better concealment capability.

Thank you for not carrying a DA/SA SIG with the hammer cocked, they were certainly not designed to be carried that way. Either subscribe to the DA/SA concept correctly or choose something else (not directed at you but for those reading).

Carrying a Condition 1 DA/SA is only a training issue. With most SIG pistol's excellent DA pull, practicing a lot (de-cocking after every shot and then simply pretending one is firing a revolver DA), one can easily master putting that first DA shot where it needs to go. Lots of folks been carrying DA/SA pistols in harm's way and using them successfully for a long, long time. Don't subscribe to the popular wisdom, just get out and train. Far too many overthink this whole concept.

I do feel that traditional double action pistols are less likely than striker-fired pistols to result in an accidental discharge, at least when properly used. And I agree that mastery of the double action shot, and the transition from double action to single action, is not as difficult for some people to master than many make out.

But I do believe that mastery of the DA/SA pistol requires a fair bit of commitment. Many people who dislike them seem to have never really put in enough time to realistically gain competence with them.

I want to get a SIG Sauer thread going. I'm aware that SIG Sauer has a striker fired pistol, the P320. It too is a great gun. Just curious to see how many people on here stick to their hammer fired SIGs. Nothing else feels as great to me. Although, Heckler and Koch is a nice tie / 2nd place.

I tried carrying a P239 for awhile but settled on a P290RS. It's DAO, I carry it in a F3 pocket holster, so the trigger type makes it very safe to carry.

Sig 229-Legion in 9mm in an AG holster. My favorite Sig by far.

Bought an Interarms Sig P220, heel clip mags and all, back when they were new. Still carry it occasionally. Lord knows how many 45 rounds went through it in that time. Still accurate and fun to shoot. Introduced my kids to it and it's still one of their favorites. Lead 230 RN and 6 grains Unique is the basic diet. Good stuff.

My EDC is an S&W Shield, but my SIG is my go to gun for home defense, backpack carry and would be my combat choice of firearm. I shoot my SA/DA whenever I get to the range to keep the muscle memory and skill level up. A 228 was my EDC at one time, but the weight just got to be too much over time. Plus I need to be a little less obvious now.

I have to respectfully disagree. I believe you need to de-cock after every two or three shots. The sig’s trigger pulls, both double action and single action are pretty good. They are just different. It’s the transition between the two that gets you.

Yes, good point, I agree with that too ... That's a natural progression, practicing the DA to SA transition ... I should have taken it further, but I was speaking to mastering the DA pull first, since that's what so many claim to have problems with. I suspect that many newer shooters have experience only with auto-pistols and haven't much, if any, experience with revolvers.

Carried a p228 daily for many years. Went to a p229. Then went back to a p228. Sometimes mix it up by adding a p225 to the mix, or p220 Carry, on occasion.
