I just received my 01 FFL and I am also about to get Kimber Master Dealer status. I was thinking about selling a few of the guns on Gunbroker, but it seems like the most part, nothing sells on there.

For the non-dealers, do you ever buy anything on there? What do you buy and how often? It seems like the gun community is a little smarter than the e-Bay community and no one pays more than they have to.

For the dealers, have you had any success selling new guns on Gunbroker.com? It seems like it might be a good place to sell an old, collectable gun, but for new guns people will probably just get them from their local dealer for about the same price.

Maybe I will save up some money, but an extra Kimber and give it a shot. It just doesn't seem like it is very worth it.

I bought a preWWII rifle there, but that's all.

I made one purchase, a Ruger P345, when they first came out and they were hard to find. I bought it for a very nice price. That was a one time thing. Usually, after I figure in the shipping and paying my local FFL, I can usually buy the same thing cheaper at Sportsman's Warehouse or Gander Mountain. Another method is using my local FFL to purchase through Davidson's(very good prices). I only look at handguns so I'm not sure about anything else.

I look now and then, but the sucker prices and blatantly inflated descriptions are too disgusting.

I'm not a dealer; but for buyers, there are some dealsat both places if you look for them...last week, among other things -

On gunbroker: I got a used millet red dot with weigand 1911 mount for $11, and a new mech-tech ccu

On ebay: new simmons 2x handgun scope for $23.50, tasco accudot for $25.
(ebay still moves a lot of gun accessories, despite not allowing "guns" )

Yeah, lots of stuff. Most of very good conditions with good prices, one thing wasn't.

Absolutely. There's some cool stuff on there if you dig through all the garbage.

I've bought a decent bit of mags/grips/other accessories on there, but never an actual firearm.

Picked up a 4" S&W Model 19 in absolutely beautiful condition there a few years back. I've also bought some miscellaneous odds and ends through them.

I don't buy the new items listed by dealers, but I have checked out items that are hard to screw up (AK's, SKS's, etc). I bought a Makarov that I currently use for concealed carry, and the price fair.

If you really want to compete, check out budsgunshop.com

He advertises all over the place there, and his prices for NIB stuff arre usually the best.

I don't know if he is a Kimber dealer, though.

I've bought one CZ 550FS in .308 on Gunbroker. Dealer was in Atlanta so I was able to do a FTF. Good price. My local dealer couldn't seem to get it.

I've bought more on GunsAmerica but usually older S&W's. I try to support my local dealer whenever possible. I just go to the websites when it's something he doesn't carry or can't or won't get.

Like anywhere else it's a matter of shopping. I have found some good deals, but I buy used guns. I wouldn't bother on a new gun because by the time you have paid shipping and transfer fees you most likely have exceeded the cost if you bought it locally.

That applies to new as well as used guns. If everyone did that then there wouldn't be all those threads of someone buying a brand new gun bringing it home then finding a problem and wanting to know if to take it back or send it to the factory.

Some dealers want to list Mossberg 500 or Rem 700's for more than they go for locally.....then you add shipping & transfer fees...and wonder why something doesn't sell:rolleyes:

Our shop has pretty good success, but it has to be a good deal or something unusual. For example, I sold a Contender in .357 Herrett. It probably would have set in a local dealer's case for years (actually it did, that's why I got it cheap). Went immediately on the internet

there's got to be a good reason to do thru the expense and hassle of mail ordering something

I mostly get parts off of gun broker becasue they don't seem to be as over priced. If you put a Kimber on GB for 10-15% over your cost it should sell. Look at the price most people are asking for Kimbers on GB. Most of them are marked up 25%+.

Signal-to-noise ratio seems way better at Auction Arms.

In the amount of time it takes me to spend 20.00 at Gunbroker, I go through 2,000.00 at Auction Arms.

I don't like auctions so I tend to price stuff and buy at GunsAmerica.com. Not sure if listing costs more there or not but the prices seem to be more in line with the real world.

    Sometimes.

One guy sold off at least 10 M1As with USGI parts, from an estate, each for a fair price.

GunsAmerica is maybe a bit better

I've bought a few items from Gunbroker and Gunsamerica...Only one gun but a variety of parts and accessories...I also used to sell Camo and other outdoor stuff on Gunsamerica, which I think has no listing fees...I didn't sell alot, but stuff did sell, and with no listing fees, and more reasonable sales fees, I could sell a bit cheaper than eBay (who's fees are out of control)....

From what I see, you're competing with a lot of other dealers, so you either gotta sell really cheap (and not make much money) or sell rare and hard to get items....
