Does anyone get annoyed when...

"I used to live in your neighborhood,

until your kind ruined it." Let em figure that one out.

Hal,

TN has an additional $.10/box tax on ammo. There's a little stamp affixed to each box.

(Interestingly, the way the tax is set up, it's per container. 50 round box of CCI Stingers? Ten cents. Thousand round case of .308? Ten cents. Sealed trailer of cased .223? Ten cents. It doesn't make much sense, but then again, so few taxes do. ;) )

Tamara:
So how does the tax work if you buy a case of shotgun shells from Walmart (a sealed case from the back, not one split up to put on the shelves)? Do you pay one tax, or a tax on each 25 round box?

No, I really don't get annoyed. But I do secretly enjoy telling the kid behind the counter how many boxes of this caliber or that caliber to get,(many boxes of 9MM,.45,sometimes .38,.357 and .22), while 2 or 3 ladies with carts piled high are very impaitencely waiting behind me,staring at me like I owe them some money.
If they want to checkout at sporting goods in order to skip the long lines at checkout up front, then they should expect to see guys like me buying lots and lots of items that can only be bought in sporting goods, right?:D :neener:

I have found that sheeple with no sense of humor are unreachable.

What they feel - they certainly have no capacity to think - is of no consequence to me.

BOOO!!!!For any of you lurkers out there in sheeple land. :p

quit scarin' the sheeple...

:D

i love the reactions i get in wally world (and kmart when it was open) when i make a big ammo purchase,

i also like when me and the kids walk would outta there each carrying a case of skeet and me with a big heavy bag o' shells

you know, when they were 12 or so,,,

that'll get you a few looks and shaken heads

and looks like these:what:  :scrutiny:

:D

On The Bus

This isn't ammo related, but nonetheless illustrative of the sheeple mindset.

Earlier this week, I was riding the bus into work, sitting on a "lengthwise" bench seat over one of the rear wheelwells. I had received the 2003 Bushmaster catalog in the mail the previous day, and had it with me, so I whipped it out of my briefcase and started reading...

After a few minutes of this, I lowered the catalog--and noticed that everyone on the opposite bench was looking at me with what can only be described as expressions of shock and disgust in their faces. The man seated next to me was looking at me out of the corner of his eye, with a similar expression.

I just smiled and resumed reading. Pictures of Evil Black Rifles do funny things to the ignorant masses.

Sometimes sheeple need to be subjected to "gun stuff" on a regular basis in order to get used to it. My co-workers no longer act surprised at the Cheaper Than Dirt and Tapco catalogs that come through the mail. :D

I got the "gasp of utter horror" from a lady in line at the DMV when I was getting my carry permit. Boo-hoo. :p

Sheslinger: "Runt face?"
Okay everybody, next time you get a new photo for your carry permit, make your best scary face!

"She seemed like such a nice girl. Why, I remember when she used to play with her Barbie dolls and tea set. I don't know what happened."

I decided to go to the range last Sunday afternoon ... needed to stop by WalMart to pick up some ammo.

A clerk (female) approaches me while I'm standing at the sporting goods counter and wants to know if she can help me. I thank her and say I need some ammunition. I didn't try to overwhelm her - I just said I'd like some ammo.

She stops, picks up the phone (intercom) and pages someone to sporting goods! She says she will not ring the sale, and she will not take it off the shelves to hand it to me. She said she does not sell ammunition!!

And she walked away.

I'd ask to talk to the manager. I'm sure he loves it when employees decide what their job description will be, particularly when this is in regard to which customers they will help. It is one thing to be ignorant, but quite another to willfully refuse to help someone.

Attitude adjustment time. Hard to believe someone would pull this with the unemployment rate at it highest in nearly a decade. I'm sure Wal-Mart can find someone who's actually willing to provide customer service.

Honestly, I don't give a flip.

In a Sport's Unlimited , I was picking up 4 cases of 45 ACP Ammo, some powder, shot, wads and a Mec 9000. Family was mouthing off and making snide remarks, saleslady suggested daddy go look at the tennis raquets, I had a dolly brought out with my order, and paid cash as always. Loading up the family started in again, in the parking lot...

Assertive or blunt: I flat told the parents and teenage daughter, that remember "their"comments, when you [daddy] are tied up and made to watch the missus and daughter being raped and assaulted. I will on the other hand be a respsonsible person and take care of myself and the one's I care about...oh and the shotgun shells are for my mom's HD shotgun.

Foreign exchange student, [didn't know she was with me], comments: " In my country the gov't took away the guns, my village had no protection. My mom and sister along with the other females ran away and lived in caves...a favorite sport for the military was to have their way with females".

Teenager lost it, mom dropped jaw, and daddy the wuss...perfect sheeple stunned.

Reality check.

edited for clarification.

Perhaps you can clarify. I don't follow what the incident is that you're relating or where it occurred or who the players are.

Was she under 21? Walmart (at least at the one where my uncle works) doesn't allow people 21 and under to buy/sell ammo.

BTW having an uncle that works in the sporting goods dept. ROCKS!!! Lots of good deals! :D

Edited to make inthe, two words. :p :D
