It is a peep that replaces the factory bolt mounted safety on the Puma 92. You simply pop out the retaining pin that holds in the safety, replace that with the sight base, and then you install the sight which is adjustable for elevation only... It seems like a pretty nice way to get a peep on a platform that begs for one while also getting rid of that safety that we all hate.

Opinions?

I think i have pretty much talked myself into putting one on order as well as a dove tail filler and possibly a new front sight as well... all in all it would be just over 100 bucks for what I expect would be a huge improvement over the factory irons... and much cheaper than a quality scope which shouldn't be on a 92 anyhow.

The older Pumas (Rossi or Taurus) may have a non-standard (not 3/8") size dovetail for the sights.

The Marbles tang-mounted peep sight has good reviews.

skinner sight

Thats a Skinner sight,do a search....I have one of the bigger ones on my Marlin 357,nice tough sight .price is a little better through Skinner sights but dont know anything about the safety on the Puma rifles though....nice unobtrusive sight works well for me.........

Stevz GunZZ - Please advise !!

I bought one of those safety-replacement rear sights for the Rossi M-92 from Steve's Gunz. I also bought a new fluorescent front sight from Steve, and it has been incredible!

BUT, the rear sight refuses to latch in firmly to the receiver of my Rossi M-92.

(Of course I will contact Steve - and I know my issue will be resolved.)

But if you're listening, Steve, please contact me by PM or pubic site or privae E-mail. -dave@dielelectricrcti!

Thanks, Dave Baldein

The puma/rossi is a copy of the Winchester 1892.. a pretty close copy with a safety added to the bolt. As such every peep option, other than those that replace the rear sight blade, is either a tang mount (and requires drilling and tapping a second hole in the tang) or is a receiver mount (and requires the receiver to be drilled and tapped.) This option does neither, rather, it replaces the existing safety that most despise anyhow.

Do a search , i did, for other options for the 92 and you will find that skinnersights does not offer his sight for the 92... perhaps it can be purchased and, after drilling and tapping, installed, but his sights are pretty much Marlin only with a Mossberg tossed into the mix. This sight may have its origins with his, but it is far from a drop in. So, rather than buy a plug from Steve'sgunz, then try to drill and tap it to fit Skinner's low pro, I think I will opt for Steve's product.

No experience but Steve's work is very well reputed. He's the man for Rossi 92 work.

I don't think that's a Skinner sight. It's advertised as manufactured in house. It's similar but bolt-mounted peep sights were around long before Skinner started making sights.

Ouch, hit a nerve there didn't I,wasn't trying to steal any of Nates glory,I just think that the peep itself looked like a Skinner Lo-Pro sight, now how it is attached to the puma rifle,is somebody elses design I am sure,

Do Nates sights also have the O-Ring in the bottom of the nut?

Nate does state that he manufactures them himself, so who am I to care who's design it is,I am not making any money off of either of them......excuse me

Well, I officially placed my order with them today and anxiously await the arrival of my new peep, front sight, and dove tail slot blank..... I think it will be a huge improvement of the factory Rossi/92 sights.

Keep us informed about how well it works. I would be interested in the peep site for my 92 if it works as well as advertised.
