Does Anyone Name Their Guns?

Only Vera....

Edit: OHHHH... I am so naming either my new garand or my soon to be received carbine Vera... I just have to figure out which one I like shooting more...

We normally call it a shorter version of the manufacturer's name and add a "y" at the end. Example:

Desert Eagle is Iggy
1 Springfield is Springy
1 Springfield is Fieldly
Walther is Walty
Colt is Colty

and so on and so on

I had two Charter Arms Undercover .38's one time that I called Shirley & ShirleyII.

As in "Shirley it will work this time!" after I tried so many times to get them to stop mis-firing in double-action.

Yes, Yes, Yes--and I have names for my vehicles also.

Yes--they are all female names and personas (except for the old jeep whom I call 'Dirty Old Willy').

Not ALL the weapons have names, but some do:

The late '44 M-1 (mine since '91) is
my "Bad Bitch".

The late '55 M-1 (mine since '06) is
my "Pretty Girl".

My Springfield M1911-a1 (my 21st B-day present to myself) is my
"Traveling/True Companion".

My late Aunt's Colt 1903 .32 ACP is 'Honey'--and it is the smootest 82 year old piece I've ever shot.

This comes up now and again--and sure it's childish and sentimental--so what.

I've been trying to think of a good Russian name for my mosin nagant but haven't come up with anything good yet. :p

My wife prefers to say, "Do you have Dan with you?" when out in public. Or, for the S&W 642, "Do you have Dan junior with you?" No one but we understands. "The star," is the Firestar.

My two primary carry guns. Rhyme and Reason. :D

Justin

You're BORING. Live a little. ;)

I've named my Mosin Nagant M44 Ivan,
My K-31 "Swiss Miss" like that hot cocoa, lol
My Steven's Model 77f "Shorty" (the gun is actually pretty lond, 30-some inches.)
My Marlin .22 "Shortstuff".

Justin, my GM carry gun is also named Justin.

Justin Case.

That and Frankenstein, my mutt 870 parts gun are the only ones I've named at present.

OTOH, my primary vehicle is always named "Rocinante"....

OTOH, my primary vehicle is always named "Rocinante"....

Now THAT is sentimental.

I like the part of the book when JS talks about puting guns in the back to provide an 'excuse' for what he is doing all alone driving around with his dog.
