like the title says, if I am using an adjustable gas block on a suppressed ar (in 6.5 grendel) does it matter if I am running a rifle length or midlength gas system? (it will be on an 18" barrel)it seems like rifle might be more desirable, but I dunno.

Should not matter much either way since you will be using the adjustable gas block. As long as the hole in the barrel is larger enough you can always throttle it down with the gas block A longer gas system does operate at lower pressure and unlocks slightly latter but with an adjustable gas block both length should be tune-able to a reliable system.
