I was just wondering what the general consensus on High Standard 1911s was?

They are about the same price range as RIA and STI but for $200 more you can get a Ruger 1911

1911's there's too many of them......

My best friend bought one a few years back, we have both shot the hell out of the thing and its still running fine. They seem like a good bargain.

If you just want a standard 1911 with none of the new bells and whistles, its a solid choice IMO.

If you are going to change out the grip safety/thumb safety/hammer/ etc. Then I would go with the new Ruger.

I bought a used one recently, mfg. in 2007. For the record, these are Phillipine Armscor guns. They come off the same assembly line as the RIA, and have the same lifetime warranty as the RIA.

So far I have about 100 rds through mine with zero malfs and good accuracy.

I'd say if it's in the $450 area and says "phillipines" on the dust cover, snag it. Awesome pistols.

I had the same one as I'm the pic, and it was a great gun. Shot well and had a nice trigger. Armscor makes good guns and backs them up with an outstanding warranty and service. Good luck.
