Does having a G19 feel strange to anybody else right now?

Now before a few of you go off the handle over this topic I blame the shooter not the gun. However I could not help but get a strange feeling when they showed pictures of a Glock 19 identical to mine (as all Glocks are) as the weapon used at the VT massacre. Anybody else have this feeling right now? Its just hard to believe that somebody would abuse the very tool I trust to protect life with in such a horrific fashion. I know I am probably just being silly, but I just wondered if I was alone. Other G19 owners care to chime in?

Your Glock 19 would have been just as effective at stopping the shooter had you been there. It's a just an inanimate tool.

I see what you're saying, but it is not in our best interest to start attaching deviant stigma to our tools.

Personally, I wouldn't care a bit. I own 3 BHPs, which were used in the UK's "Dunblane Massacre," and it doesn't make me feel any different. Why? Because it is just a tool that does as its user instructs. It can be used for good or evil, just like cameras or automobiles or computers.

To tell you the honest truth, you could even sell me that exact G19, and it wouldn't matter to me. It wasn't the gun, it was the psycho behind it.

Glockfan, I feel where you're coming from. I have a G23 which is identical to the G19 in appearance. Some of my buddys that are not knowledgable about guns but have seen mine have already started to make the comparisons" hey, isnt that the same one you have..." ect. so I definatley feel a little awkward. but I dont feel any negative stigma that I own it, hard to explain I guess.

it would sorta be like looking at a large knife I use to help cook after hearing someone is stabbed and feeling weird, I admit it might happen for a second but I get over it quickly. In that scenario it is just another example of a tool that can be misused.

So I see how you feel, but remember a multitude of glocks have been made, and of course some jerk is occassionally going to misuse one. What we need is people who use them properly to help make the weapon look heroic instead of villanous.

No, not for me. No strange feeling.

Just loads of anger at a deranged man who committed the ultimate act of selfishness. I only wish someone would have been allowed to stop the maniac, and will be working overtime to ensure that "gun free safety zones" become a thing of the past.

Feel strange about my G19

Don't feel any different about it. It is about the person behind it, not the gun itself that is at fault. Seems like people nowdays feel that they are not responsible for their own actions. Its always someone elses fault.

A pistol, any pistol, is merely a tool. I can assure of one fact: Glock 19s have saved more innocent lives, than what they have taken innocent lives.

No strange feelings at all. Of course my G19 is a good green one, not one of those evil black ones, so it has nothing to be ashamed of. :p

Of course it doesn't make me feel "strange". Should I feel strange if he wore K-Swiss shoes? If he drank Poland Spring bottled water?

Nothing about that despicable little walking tumor has ANYTHING to do with me, or any other decent human being. I just wish he'd had a cramp in his finger at the moment he took the picture of himself with the gun pointed at his head.

No, I do not feel different having a Glock model 19, I do wish more peolple in VT had some so they could have defended themselves. It is just a tool and it works very well at what it does.

No, I feel the same about my G19 as I did last week. Just like I do my G21 or my 1911's or my Ruger P89, etc.
It's still just a range implement I use for entertainment. :D

No.

I dont associate what that animal did with what tool he used.I have an nazi made k98 with a nazi bayonet,I strongly dislike nazis and what they stood for.I also have a russian communist made sks,I dont like communists neither but none of that has anything to do with my gun.I did have an original confederate calvary saber hanging on the wall,it fell and has since been sold because it gave me the ebbie jeebies after nearly amputating my first 3 toes.

I dont own one but if I did,my answer would still be no.

On the day of the shooting i was at the range with my uncle shooting a glock 19. On the way out i actually went out of my way to point out the high capacity magazines to him. Its a bit of an odd coincidence i think... but let me put it this way. After the terrorist attacks on september eleventh, i didn't look at airplanes any differently than i did before... so why would i look at this particular model of gun any different?

I'd say, "Yeah, it's just like the one a lot of cops carry..."
