Does it drive you nuts when someone leaves a gun review who hasn't fired or cleaned the gun yet?

I am getting to the point in my life where I just can't tolerate people who are stupid and waste other peoples time. I can't help but get annoyed when I go to a site like Buds or any oter gun site including Utube, and look up Gun reviews for a gun I might be looking at purchasing only to find after reading a few seconds that the guy hasn't fired the gun, or it's his first gun, and he has absolutely nothing to compare it to.
Things like "I took it out of the box, and it sure looks like it's going to be a great shooter" but I haven't fired it yet and it's my first gun.
Or I got a 1911, and it looks real nice, but haven't shot it yet, what is a hollow point? Should I use lead bullets for self defense, my buddy told me they are good I am carrying it but haven't fired it yet.
Or why would anyone need more than 5 bullets. Who shoots deer with an AR-15 machine gun.
There should be a new Trump law passed immediately, anyone who posts a statement and doesn't have the implied information, get's flogged in the town square. This may lead to a lot of flogging, but it may create more jobs. It's almost as bad as the VP candidate, Tim what's his name , wanting to ban guns because of a knife attack.
We need a Bar to be able to clear to seperate the "normal " folks from the Milenials, or whatever these folks are, it just seems like many folks lack common sense, and it's spreading.
IE: I have a stepson-in law, who we allowed into the family somehow, and he is like talking to a Beaver. I, I, I just don't understand why you guys think you need all those bullets, "no Breath", they need to change that law, I say Doug, that law is the second amendment to the Constitution that my 5 uncles and father fought and some were badly injured in. It's the basis of our country, Yea, yea, they have to fix that, says he. I say, who has to fix that. And the coverstion slowly dies as my wife gives me that leave it alone, it's Thanksgiving, again.
That is about as much thought as the average anti gun person gives this.
you must remember the "normal" people raised these kids and allowed them to never get their hands dirty or break a sweat let them lay around. I had a house framing crew for 35 years hired 100's of kids saw more then that working for others and it was a disaster. in all that time I only had 4 guys that were not scared of working

Doesn't bother me in the least...and I'm old. People write what they write, it's not all that big of a deal.

There are simply too many more important issues on this planet to let internet gun reviews/comments bother me.

.

^^^This is where I'm at. Read the reloading forum here. Folks that have never loaded for a caliber/platform, much less ever shot the caliber/platform, are the first to give advice to newbies reloading that caliber/platform.....and then get upset when folks don't agree with their off the wall advice. The internet has unleashed the power for anyone with a keyboard and an internet connection to consider themselves an expert. Like every other bit of information one is exposed to in life, we have to first consider the source.

I am afraid the only thing you can do about that is to "tune out". No TV, radio, interaction with other beings or objects.

When I was a child nothing bothered me in my world. The older I get the more things seem to effect me.

I can't say I'm really annoyed so much as...what is the word for a disappointment you feel even though you have come to expect to be disappointed?

I especially admire the people who don't limit themselves to guns (products in general really) they own, or even to products they *could* own. The ones who excitedly write reviews about products that have not been released. I'm not talking about writers who have been given a pre-release sample product, but the people who insist on telling the world how great/awful a newly-announced product is when they won't have the least opportunity to even see it for months.

Oh, they are called voters.

New here: Yep, my favorite was the fellow who could pull back the slide on a Kel Tec 380 with two fingers. Another was a person slamming a B-Mag who knew a much about that rifle as about flying the Space Shuttle. Yep, it was problematic but very little about the real problems. Another gem had some person giving a slightly woman a high powered rifle to shoot. She shot it OK but caught the scope on the forehead. I bet he's still paying for that stunt.

So many anger/outrage addicts these days. And yes, there is plenty of scientific evidence supporting the hypothesis that anger is in fact addictive.

I think it's part of the reason so many threads here and elsewhere degenerate into arguing and personal attacks, no matter how seemingly innocuous the topic.

"Gotta find a way to get that daily outrage fix. Hmm, no recent threads on birdshot for self defense or .223 for deer? What will I do? Wait, what's this? Some guy reviewed a gun he hasn't fired!? Why, he may as well have called my mother a prostitute, burned the flag and said Reagan wasn't that great a president!! I can't let this slide. He better brace himself for the nastiest YouTube comment ever!"

Well, it is the internet and we know that everything on the internet is cold, hard facts and truths.

Life's too short to obsess over customer reviews, I just move on.

I don't like reviews beyond looks, fit and finish, etc. from people that don't have a lot of trigger time on the firearm in question. That is why I really appreciate nutnfacy, his reviews are his opinion but they are based on solid, long term use. Hickok45 has become a bud's shill and doesn't do nearly as much real world testing. I do admire his shooting skills though and I like his reviews even though they are generally based upon only a few hundred rounds shot at his range.
He also is too long winded, in his reviews and like Kramer on TV's Mad Money" , seems to own every gun he reviews, which is a bit hard to believe.
On a side note millions of those so called voters, are so upset their candidate didn't win, that they couldn't get their lazy butts down to their local polling place to even vote. It never cease to amaze me how lazy and entitled much of the country has become.

I like to watch Hickock 45's videos because I like to daydream about having a range like that in my own back yard. He is a bit long-winded, though. Those 22 minute videos could easily be reduced to 10 minutes or less without leaving out any important information.

i sure don't know where you guys look for info.
when i wanted a ruger, i went to the ruger forum , asked around n got lots of good
advice that was correct.
when i wanted a s&w i went to that forum n asked for help.
i got what i needed.
i have put many thousands of rounds thru these guns n they performed just like i had been told.
then, i went back got help modifying these guns to make them better.
i did the mods n i have the best guns around.
i think maybe you guys need to look for data in the proper places.
you tube is not a proper place.

Doesn't bother me a bit. It didn't cost me anything. They didn't promise to give me anything they didn't deliver. What do you really expect for "some guy on the internet" who wrote a gun review?

Oh, and I'm one of those who'll post a picture of a gun I've never fired. As a matter of fact, I have never fired most of the guns I own. I have more that I've only taken to the range one time. Feel free to be interested or not as you choose.

No better than all the Amazon reviews where the gave it one star because UPS damaged the package or sent it to the wrong house. Or because they didn't read the description and ordered the wrong thing. There are a lot of stupid people in this world and the internet has given them all a voice.

They offer "expert" opinions on guns they never owned or shot.
To be fair, spend enough years shooting, studying and buying guns and you gain enough wisdom to avoid the turds. One doesn't have to own or even shoot a Hi Point, Jennings or Heritage to know that they're cheap guns or that you do not want to own one. A wise man once said, "I do not have to lick a turd to know that I do not want to eat it".

The potential problem with that is that they often have unfounded biases against other gunmakers. Some are notorious for it.

I will tell you where you run into a lot of these reviews. When you are researching prices , "like at Buds". When you see 15 or 30 reviews on a gun you are thinking of buying, so you look at what others who have already bought have to say. Half of them never shot the gun yet and wrote a review on it. Now don't tell me you never read a review while looking to buy a gun?
I especially like the ones who haven't recieved the gun yet, but wrote the review anyway.
Or it's their first gun and have nothing to compare it to, yet insist on rating it through their extensive knowledge of firearms.LOL

I'm ok with a first impression review. The reviews that really grind my gears is when someone fires their gun 40 times and exclaims how amazingly reliable it is....

You'd be amazed at how many firearms are sent back for warranty repairs because "it's jams", or "doesn't feed" or something else. When it's looked at in detail it can either have zero lubrication , or it was never cleaned before forst use or covered in thick grease that would stop and elephant. A cleaning and proper lube gets them going.

"Taurus sells junk. I bought a revolver in '84 that sucked. Never again"....after experience with 11 of them, I'm not a fan.

There's a clueless fellow at work who derives all his gun knowledge from video games, and then speaks to others as if he really is knowledgeable about whatever platform he's talking about.
He is an idiot and he drives me nuts.

With online reviews, it's pretty easy to scan through real quick and decide if it's actually worth reading what they wrote.
That's why I frequent this site; the rest of the 'net is mostly drivel.

I had a friend that went on and on about how much he loves the G3. I showed him my PTR-91 and turns out, his only experience was with airsoft... After ACTUALLY shooting it, he no longer likes the platform.
