Does MidwayUSA ship discreetly?

I think I would be looking for someone in authority if I knew someone was messing with my mail. I would also definitely move out ASAP.

I have never heard of anti-gun clause in a lease and would have to question the legality of one.

Midway ships in plain brown cardboard that says "Midway USA" on it, unless you're buying something large (like the other poster's tumbler) that would be shipped in the original packaging.

You can have the post office hold your packages, if you're that concerned about it. Or you could call Midway after you place the order and request they ship discreetly - I bet they wouldn't have any problem with your request.

Related story: I have a UPS store box, very happy with the service and the guys who run the store. One day I stop by to pick up a box of bullets that had arrived (I think it was 3k 147 grainers packed into a one-rate box; pretty damn heavy). As I'm signing for it, the guy says to me, "Okay, don't feel like you have to answer, but I've gotta ask - what's in this thing???" Without batting an eye I said, "Bout 3000 bullets." His jaw drops, as does the package - right out of his hands and onto his foot. It was classic!

I can recommend changing the dead bolt locks in your apartment as most are Kwikset and can be bought at any big box home store.
Yes, but most leases forbid that. It is their property, despite the lease.

Dang, I had a cool response typed up, and lost it.

Basically, I looked a couple feet to my right, and looked at the label on the box I got from them today. It has their phone number, name, and address. It also says "Consumer Commodity ORM-D" (for Kroil), and nobody said anything at my campus's mailroom.

If you are that concerned, just call them up and ask them to ship it in a plain box.

J Dewey has a good selection of cleaning supplies and may be more discrete than Midway. If I remember correctly the sender is only "J. Dewey" and it could be your cousin :).

"Hold for pickup" is also a good option.

Find the address of your nearest UPS distribution center then ship it to: your name, Hold for pickup, UPS address.

I got a plain brown box from Midway today.

No markings, other than the B&W UPS Ground label with the unobtrusive MidwayUSA shipper address. In addition to a bag, a holster, and 1000 patches, it had two boxes of ammo in it, and to my surprise no blue "ORD-M" label on it anywhere.

Can you ship it to your office/work/buddy?

I do that all the time. It saves the trouble of having to go wait in line at the post office to sign for a box of this or that. Or having to worry about an item left on my door for a couple days if i'm gone and they leave it there. Must be pretty normal as venders don't seem to question the ship/billing address not being the same.

my stuff came in a white plastic bag with the box inside, no indications that it was firearm related.

I rent a small box (normal po box size) at a local UPS Store for the reason mentioned by the OP as well as not being at home when the apt office is still open to actually get my stuff and to top it off I don't have to worry about UPS or Fedex leaving high value items out randomly in front of the door. There is also a franchise called Mailbox Etc and I believe they will let you rent a box and do the same thing as a UPS store. I've been using the UPS store closest to me for several years now and have had nothing but a good experience. For won't fit in your box(which is most things i order) they are open fairly late and on saturdays so it makes pickup convenient. I'm sure that could vary greatly since I "believe" the UPS Stores(at least not all locations) are not corporate run, just more of an independent franchise sort of thing. I can use my address there with my box# or i can just put the stores street address, they will sign for things etc. Being able to write the address multiple ways helps out with some vendors that have odd conditions on what types of addresses they will ship to.

Well, I can't answer your question, but I can say this:

If the guy is nosey and comments on everything, I think it's time to find something very awkward to order. Maybe there's an "anal beads company" or something similar that ships very indiscreetly. Just remember to keep a straight face when you pick it up from the super.

Yes, UPS stores are franchised - mine definitely has that "small business" feel to it. The owners and employees recognize me, I get personal emails any time a package arrives, and they've gone out of their way to accommodate my needs (staying open late so I can pick up a package, etc).

It's well worth the $100 a year or whatever I pay.

Well Excuse me. I did not see that part. Please disregard that fact, do as you wish, and deal with the consequences if there are any.

I felt that was poor advise, and so I threw out that tidbit. Perhaps the OP doesn't want to worry about the possible repercussions, whether you would or not.

Figure out a way to "mail" a fox pi$$ soaked package to yourself that you can somehow get in the super's mail collection. He might rethink the mail policy.:D

Can't you have the package delivered to a nearby friend, relative or co-worker?
I wouldn't want the apartment caretaker knowing ANY of my business........................ but that's me.

Simple ... the local UPS center in your area, once you have a tracking number, call the local UPS center and tell them to hold the package for pickup. Most are open till 6PM or so, sign the brown board when the clerk hands the package and go on your merry ole way.

I shipped a few Christmas presents to my inlaws address, so my wife and rest of my family didn't see them delivered (or bring them in for that matter). Inlaws live ~15 miles away, so instead of driving that whole way I had them held for pickup ... 15 minute round trip instead of 30+ and the time spent talking to the inlaws.

THE UPS STORE IS NOT YOUR LOCAL CENTER. Call or stop by the place where they park the brown trucks at night.

We have a winner!!! #34!!! I have car parts, holsters/gun stuff, whatever, shipped to me at work. That way it is often cheaper for the seller (if by UPS or FedEx) and it doesn't sit by my door if no one is home to accept it. And for those of you in fear of loosing your job because the boss knows you own a gun:eek:, I feel bad for you.

Ammunition

Like someone else said just be careful with ammunition. I once had the UPS guy *leave* a box from BassPro labeled "ORM-D Small Arms Ammunition" outside the door to my apartment all afternoon while I was at work...

My order was covered with these stickers. Nobody said anything... ;)

Gee.....................do you think maybe it might be just about time to tell the Super to mind his own business about your packages and every thing else regarding you and the other tenants ? I'm betting the rest of the CUSTOMERS are pretty fed up with this jerk too.

Better make sure you have your beer, wine booze and rubbers well concealed just in case somebody sees you carrying such disgusting contraband into YOUR HOUSE.......

Come on, this can't be serious, can it ? Do you have to have your vehicle inspected for offensive and unacceptable bumper stickers to park in your lot ?

Amazing.

JUST AN FYI if its not already mentioned if you order ammo from anywhere its going to have a sticker on it that say "Ammunition, small arms" thats a shipping requirement
