Does Ruger know something we don't?

No body here said that Ruger doesn't make Hi-Cap Firearms or tacticool items. The question asked in the opening post was if their new products being released had to do with the sudden turn of events in our country. Needless to say marketing, tooling for new products and distribution takes much longer than this latest media induced frenzy. The key word here is marketing. Again....Ruger makes exceptional firearms in all forms and styles. But their main marketing is directed towards the average hunter/sportsman/shooter with the emphases on affordability. While this philosophy is different than some manufacturers who's main product lines consists of military style weapons with 30 round mags standard, it has been a wise and profitable direction. The 10/22 was out for many years before Ruger themselves offered a magazine capable of more than 10 rounds. The majority of Ruger firearms new and old come from the factory with a capacity of 10 or less. This obviously shows who their market targets are. Those that can't figure this out apparently aren't payin' attention, eh?

Just to add, no need for the link ugaarguy, I was just there last week ordering a coupla estra mags for my 77/44 and 77/357. While I was there I did notice the other options too.

Your comment that Ruger thinks the average person doesn't need more than 10 rounds is a little off when you factor your above comment in. Ruger doesn't think the average person needs more than 10 rounds in a Single Action Revovler or small light weight carry gun would be a more accurate statement

Just IMO, the pendulum swung towards the M&Ps, Glocks, XDs, that had capacities of about 17 for 9mm, a bit less for .45 etc. Lots of models, lots of other makers doing so. Lately, I've seen the trend towards single-stack and smaller for easier carry (that's my impression of the reason)...the Nano, the Shield, LCP, the Kahrs still popular, etc.

While by no means do I want to give up my fullsize M&P I dont really like carrying it. (Love shooting it) I have a Shield ordered. I'll just carry 2 extra magazines instead of one.

There are trends in gun design like anything else.

btw, I have 3 Rugers. 2 shoot balloons and one barks.

Many people say Smith & Wesson, and Ruger, both have a history of "Screwing us" shooters, when it comes to assault weapons bans.

I don't care, they make great products.

:)
