When in Rome

Sigfan quipped:

>I bet the Romans said that about lead plumbing too.<
****************

Okay. That which works WELL and doesn't cause birth defects in lab rats...

Bill Jordan carried revolvers. Jelly Brice too. How'd ya like to throw down on either of those two?:D

Oh yeah... ---> :neener:

Kel-Tec P22

Top-Break .22 or .38 Spl Revolvers (new production)

Taurus Ribber Grips as aftermarket accessories

My pick would be a Marlin lever action 17 HMR or .22 WMR. I talked to a Marlin rep. at the Milwaukee NRA convention this year..He stated that Marlin had NO plans to ever build one. :cuss: Excuse given: Too expensive to produce and no market. Glad I bought a 9417 Legacy when I did.:)

ok, i'll bite.... ........how 'bout a ruger mini-14 not only with a heavy barrel, but PARKERIZED and able to accept AR-15 mags !!! huh ? HUH ? :D

my backup nomination.........." LITTLE BOY " or "FAT MAN " !!!!!!!!:neener:

Its a dumb idea that will never happen, but I have always wanted a Ruger 1911.

Great minds think alike. I'd be on a Ruger 1911 like a duck on a junebug.

As for a revolver with night sights, I am pretty sure there are several aftermarket manufacturers that make those. Meprolight for sure makes night sights for some Ruger and S&W wheelguns. According to Kimber's website, Kimber has exclusive U.S. distribution rights to those. You can buy them online at Kimber's website, www.kimberamerica.com. I am not sure who else would make them, but I don't think the Mepros would be your only option. I sure like 'em on my Tactical Ultra II, though...

Having assisted kids..

- Kids sized Nitrile gloves

- "Ballistol needs to put some in a nail polish bottle with the brush so I cah put it where I want it".

- "Doesn't anybody make a Purple Sling for my Pink Cricket?" (she has one that was made.)

-"Yeah I want a Yellow sling". "Well I want a Neon Green One"...

-Spinner target for BB Guns.

What they like is the one with 3 circles, of different sizes, with a base that just sits on the ground like they use for their 22. single shot rifles. They use spring powered BB Guns [Most are Red Ryder because this gun fits them better and not heavy]. Afraid of Richochet and the targets do not move "very much, and all". Needs to be light and easy to carry.

Kids think maybe replaceable Nerf circles , that are easy to change on a Plastic one in Pretty Colors might work.

-Slip on Recoil pad for a Red Ryder. "It will fit mom better ya know?"

-More and better choices , in Pretty and Cool colors in Ear Protection.

-Kid sized oxford , polo, and T shirts , with pockets, with a shooting patch on both shoulders. ["Make the purple one first"]

-Quality .22 revolvers, "no stupid lock on it either" , in J frame, 3" barrels in .22 long rifle.

"Yeah, like they used to do , and we want blue ones and steel ones and nice stocks to fit us kids, and what is wrong if a girl wants Purple Stocks, or some boy wants Yelllow ones, he'll probably put on a NASCAR sticker on it too..."

-9mm or .38spl barrel that will fit on a H&R Topper/ NEF Youth shotgun.

Kids have shot 9mm and light .38 spl loads. They know these guns can be sent in for centerfire calibers and for .22 long rifle rimfire.

Just makes sense to them , to have something without a lot of recoil, and not "all that expensive to shoot " in a barrel for them.

One young man said the swamp rabbits are big where grandpa lives, he bets with a 9mm or .38spl he could better put one down. Has an idea of a place [to be set up] and "be kinda like deer hunting, but different".

Kids are our future, sounds like the kids have a pretty good idea of what they want...

Moms have some ideas too...

6" J Frame in 17 Mach2 with an integral Weaver rail built into the top strap for a small red dot sight.

A double stack Kahr PM9. (but still smaller/lighter than a G26)

More holsters for scoped handguns, not just big ones.

A backpack that opens into a field chair that doubles as a gun rest.

Will somebody please make American economical drillings?

The Bren Ten

Somebody...
Somewhere...
Somehow...

must be interested in the niche market that would jump all over a New Bren Ten/Peregrine Falcon.:( Assuming they could get the rights from Voit.

I wish Hi-Point would make a .22, handgun or carbine, wouldn't matter. I'd sure love to have an ugly-but-reliable $50 .22LR handgun for the range - $250 to $300 is a bit rich for what would, to me, be little more than a plinking gun.

I also wish (for no particular reason) that someone would make new-production Mosins, Makarovs, CZ-52s... K31s? :D Any of the milsurps that are a bit hard to find (Maks) or "drying up" according to the scuttlebutt (K31s).

And, c'mon, who wouldn't love a new-production Mosin?

Perhaps not high on the "practical moneymaker" scale, but hey.

+1 on the fervent wish for a doublestack 7.62x25 Tok.

And I'm sure I'll get some backup on this - fully-functional anime guns.

Rockstar.esq and I got into an argument a couple of months ago on this very topic. You and he agree on the magazine issue. I agree with you on the parkerized issue, but then I would parkerize my truck if I could.

And, c'mon, who wouldn't love a new-production Mosin?

well, if it didn't cost a fortune, and looked exactly like any other Mosin, I would love a new production Mosin. I can't give you a reasonable, logical reason as to why it is, but I just have a deep affinity for Mosins.

A high quality bolt action shotgun, with mauser-style extractor. And a rimless 12 ga shotgun brass cartridge (with magnum "belt").

Once More

Since we're dreamin'...

I'd like to see a short-coupled levergun in .357 Maximum caliber. The round fell on its face in revolvers because of forcing cone erosion and flame cutting the topstrap...but those problems wouldn't be present in a rifle, and the extra barrel length would let it be all that it could be. It'd make for a neat little close cover "brush" gun/general-purpose camp rifle with terminal ballistics
a bit better than the 30-30 fired from the same barrel length...with a shorter, faster action...probably would hold one more round than the 30-30 Trapper-length carbines...and due to the case capacity, it could be more readily loaded down for practice and recoil-sensitive shooters, or pumped up a bit and loaded with heavy, solid-nosed bullets for maximum penetration in bear country. I know that it would essentially be a ballistic twin to the .375 round, but with a wider selection and more commonly available component bullets. IMO...it would be a hit.

Similar other

I posted an answer to a similar thread a few weeks back, but which was directed basically firearms only. Mine would be a mix of the Glock 17, Browning High Power and the Colt 1911A1. The post was very detailed, and I do not want to double-post, so I simply put the link to that answer: "Your Perfect Gun"

http://thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=217184&highlight=BHP

I also strongly agree with the beginning of this thread. We need clothing companies to make clothes that facilitate the concealing of our firearms.

Great post, thanks!

Hi-Point Carbine in .22LR (LOVE my 9mm)...High cap mags (that WORK) for ANY Hi-Point Carbine.

High cap mags (that WORK) for SKS, fixed or detachable.

More PRACTICAL accessories for SKS.

Better safety system for Mosin-Nagant (trigger block?)

.45 Carbine

A carbine in .45ACP that:

Does not look like a super-soaker.
Takes 1911 Magazines.
Is not a poorly designed blowback like the Camp-45.

An inexpensive safe that works

I guess I can believe it. Someon needs to think outside the box on the gunsafe thing and come up with something better than "it costs $5000 and can keep an experienced crook out for 15 minutes! Gargggghhh!

A replica stg-44 chambered in 7.62x39 that takes AK mags. Seriously, what the hell? They make other repros. Oh yeah and an "assault weapon" in 8mm Mauser. I want a pistol grip and a hi-cap (30-40 rnd mag) make it under $500.

Revolvers in Semi-auto calibers

Any make, any caliber, just more of them. Like the S&W 610 (10mm/40S&W)and the SP 101 in 9mm. Revolvers have a huge "performace gap" between 38spl and 357 magnum. It needs to be filled. Plus, semi-auto ammo is cheap, and moon clips are fast.

OTOH, 38 spl is a very versatile round for reloading, which I'm about to start doing :)

AMEN! I love this idea! Add all the options so we can have a portable light-weight version and a big, heavy long-range monster. Make sure the mag is detachable and so freakin tough we can drive tent stakes with it!

 If it's under $500 I'll just back the truck up and get a load.

How about an affordable semi-auto FN M-249 SAW? Love the belt fed option, but AR mags are a dime a dozen, no need to worry about linkin' up some more on a hot saturday afternoon shoot!
