Don't Hate Me Because I Have This

What should we name her?

I think "Maria" would fit nicely.

Watch "The Sound of Music" and see if you don't think it's a good fit.

There are a few similarities between Julie Andrews character in the movie and your rifle.

So, when's the wedding?

ok, maybe shoot it once on special occasions..... like an anniversary, or birthday, or Alabama winning their third-in-a-row national championship..... RTR!!

Halle-dang-luya and Amen, Brutha Walsh! Though I've been 'way out here on the Left Coast since '88, the Crimson Tide has always been -- and will always be -- MY TEAM!

[Concluding brief end-zone celebration and returning to regularly-scheduled thread]

Maria could be a wonderful name. And I do know of what you speak about the Julie Andrews character.
She was kinda hot:scrutiny:
The ceremony is scheduled for this weekend and all who have participated in this thread are invited. :neener:
As for the Crimson Tide I do like their uniforms:eek:
Oh, and BTW ................. GO BRONCOS:evil:

But going back to the Ferrari analogy.
Ferraris are race cars. Albeit street legal in most cases they were designed and built to be race cars. Wolves in sexy sheeps clothing so to speak.
The purpose of a race car is to be raced which includes modifications, decals, and probable bumps, bangs and crashes.
And much like a race car's purpose is to be raced a main battle rifle's purpose is to engage in battle.
On that basis I would venture a guess that not a single person in this discussion has used their military issue rifles for its intended purpose.
Well said.
Further, if you have a garage full of Ferraris, and you have one that is pristine/has never been driven, what is the harm in that?

That rifle will only be unfired once, and you have a half dozen just like it, that have honest use, why bust the cherry just because you can?

I can't afford safe queens, but I don't begrudge anyone who can. Honestly, it sounds as if a bunch of people want you to shoot it just so you will no longer own something special...and that attitude is seriously messed up. :banghead:

Sry I Can't help it!!!

Hi:
I going to share some other photos of this thing.
Ok, this is whatever you think it is .......................... but look at these with unbias view .............. this is a military issued rifle. You tell me if you think it'd unfired(less than 12 rds.).
Quit drooling :neener:

Yep, I like it ................... Maria ......................... her name is Maria. :)

Maria has been out of circulation for a number of years ............................. But she's still young and innocent.
So welcome her to the fold:D

Summo insight

My grandfather was a gunsmith and had a wonderful collection of arms, many of them I enjoy still today. He said that there was never a place in his cabinet for a gun that didn't shoot well, and he had no use for guns that didn't get shot. Guns should be shot and enjoyed.....

....he is still my hero.

I wouldn't shoot it. I agree that I'd shoot pretty much any gun that had been used before regardless of condition but that thing is too beautiful to fire. Get another one to actually shoot and secure that thing snugly into your safe.

Lila has been called!!! That's not bad:uhoh:

So I must ask Swamp this then; What similarities do you see between my rifle and Julie Andrews? :scrutiny:

So now we have a name controversy ! :banghead:

Let's see...

Maria spent a lot of time in a convent (out of circulation and "unfired" if you get my drift).

She left the convent to become a governess for the children of the widower, Captain von Trapp.

She was left to one side while the Captain dallied with the Baroness.

Eventually her charms and beauty became too much for the Captain and he married ("test fired") her.

It seems a decent enough "G" rated analogy to me...

lencac, did you delete the info about your camaro or did a mod? I don't even see an option to delete a post in the advanced options so I don't think you could.

Good thing he's not curator at the Winchester Cody museum.

Valnar, I know right? When I got it on GB it looked very nice in the photos but I had no idea how nice. Even the buttplate is pristine and unmarked in any way.
I did put 20 rds. through it here a week ago so take a look at my link a couple of posts back.
So she may not be Miss Universe anymore but perhaps only Jennifer Aniston now :neener:
