Checked out the training requirement (read HB12) and instructors are holding classes already not knowing all the requirements unique to Ohio Law.
1. A pamphlet BEING prepared by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission is required to be taught in the class and the applicant is required to be tested/certified for knowing it's content. As of yet this pamphlet may NOT be available.
2. In addition to the NRA type safety course, each applicant MUST have two hours of CERTIFIED range time to demonstrate he has adequate skills.
Many current instructors do not know Ohio's unique requirements and MAY be accepting applicants with the understanding that they will qualify for Ohio's CCW permit.
Ask your NRA instructor if he is aware of these two mandatory requirements and if you get a blank stare, you might want to wait a little while longer before taking your CCW course.
