For home defense there is one tactical advantage to the double barral that I like.
It can be put into action silently. I can think of times when I do not want the burglur to hear that famed beautiful "shook-chuk" sound that a pump gun makes. Of course, so can the pump gun when you keep one chambered.
Generally I agree with a Remington 870 with 7 round mag. But, tactically the double gun does have just a few advantages.
