During some surfing on some gunboards I got wind that DSA was going to start producing a .223 versioned FAL with an all steel reciever.

Well..I guess the rumors weren't exactly true and we will have to wait a bit more. Here is a response from a rep at DSA to my Email.

Dear Kelly,
Thank you for your e-mail. In the future we may possibly produce the .223 but, at this time we are currently in production with the .243 and the .260 models. Keep watching the website for upcoming information. Have a great weekend!

Oh well. The .243 sounds interesting, but I can't see any beneficial advantage. Ammo costs are way higher than good ol .308. As for the .260, I don't know of anywhere to really get a good supply of cheap ammo..so that negates any advantage in my book as well.

I just don't see the FAL doing sub MOA routinely enough to devote one for "sniper" duty. To me its more fun as a general battle rifle. As such we need a good cartridge chambered for her as well as the .308.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a .223/AR15 magazine based FAL from DSA. I know there are some guys tooling up to build them, but I want a DSA .

I think Tamera got me on the .223 bug with hers, cept I want an all steel reciever.

Good Shooting

Well, if you can't wait, build one like Tamara's on a steel receiver!!

Ahh..would love to except two main parts are lacking in supply.

1. Bolt
2. Recievers. I do not want to use a mag adapter.

I'll wait patiently..besides, I'm broke. :D

I too am waiting for an FAL in .223, but they seem to be focusing on stuff like 300 wm. Redlg155, there is a guy on the FALFILES that has parts for a .223 model and one in 45acp.
