If money was no object, what 10mm 1911 would you go with? Money really is an object, but just curious what folks would pick.

I am in the market for one I think. I don't want to wait months for delivery, so it needs to be something non-custom.

I'd get a DW Bruin myself. In my experience my Dan Wesson has held up very favorably to Nighthawks and Wilson's side by side.

I assume by big, you meant bigger than 5" barrel.

No, I meant big, as in dreaming big, if money was not an object.
I do not want more than a 5" barrel.

I actually find the backstrap of a 1911 a little too narrow for the recoil of full-bore 10mm. For me, some kind of double-stack is necessary if I'm going to shoot more than a couple magazines' worth of the real stuff.

Personally I wouldn't want a grip safety on a gun that shoots 10mm. I imagine it being quite irritating to the palm of your hand.

But if I was going to get one, I'd want a Dan Wesson Razorback.

Cant say as I've noticed it all that much. I certainly prefer my 1911 in 10mm to my old GP100 in .357.

Though I generally dont shoot more than 50 in a given range session, even handloads being expensive and all.

Just curious about your hands? Mine are bony as hell and the grip safety is slightly annoying to me on a 1911 even in 45 acp.

I typically shoot 150-200 rounds of 10mm in a session, and they're fairly warm. 13.3 gr AA#9 with a 180 gr bullet. My P220 really suits me though.

I have been studying the offerings recently and there are no true standouts as an all around pistol. The Sig is nice but it’s pricetag speaks volumes, and it’s not a 1911 so if you REALLY want 1911 it’s out, just like the EAA Witness pistols. Remington and Springfield offerings look good, but when compared to each other or to the Ruger then your back at a stalemate. Rock Island HAD the market pretty well cornered on double stack 10mm 1911s but I hear grumblings of more competition inthat realm too, and frankly if it’s $600 for a RIA I’m paying the extra and getting a $750 Ruger/Remington/Springfield. The choices keep coming back to very small and very specific quirks/factory parts/and aesthetics.

My money would be on a.Witness Elite or Witness Limited, but if I wanted a 1911 I would be looking at factory installed sights and grips between the Remington, Ruger, and Springfield. As a range toy I think the Range Officer wins out, as a heavy use gun, Ruger, as a hunting gun, Remington.

Personally though if money were absolutely of no concern, I would buy 6. Sig, DW Bruin, SRO, Glock MOS longslide, Ruger GP100, and a barrel for my contender. That would have the bases pretty well covered. I might consider the xdm10 over the Glock as I typically prefer a grip safety, but in a 10 I’m not so sure I like that idea as it could be a nasty pinch point.

#7 would be a Kriss Vector Carbine. I might do a pistol too and SBR it and make it full auto with a suppressor....remember, this thread is based on “money isn’t no object”

...and a hi point carbine for good measure

I have had a Razorback and a CCO in Razorback configuration 10 mms from Dan Wesson for over 15 years.. Packed them much of the time. They are great guns.
