I want to replace my factory barrel in my 1911, I would like to use a GI-style parkerized or blued barrel for the look. The pistol is nickel but I don't really like the factory barrel. My thoughts are either one out of a springfield armory type pistol or get a sarco/numrich gov. model barrel. Any opinions?

BarSto or KKM or maybe Lonewolf...

The best 1911a1 barrel would be a BarSto match grade part. The 1911a1 replacement barrels from LoneWolf Dist or maybe KKM would be good too.

You might be able to drop in an aftermarket barrel and get it to function properly, but to get the best accuracy out of it, I'd think you'd need to take it to a smith so he can properly match the barrel lugs to the slide, and possibly the bushing to the barrel.

Bar Sto makes only one grade of barrel as far as the rifling goes, afaik, they offer one that will require fitting as it is oversize, the other "Drop In" is
nominally to standard spec. but they do offer different cuts as in
'colt, kimber, etc, and different ramp styles - I'd recommend knowing and
getting a good 1911 gunsmith in your area if you want to get the most
out of a Bar Sto barell even a Drop In. Bar Sto charges $175 for fitting a
barrel but with Bar Sto you know it will be right. If you don't give them a
platform they can work with well that's another issue.

FWIW I have a Bar Sto Drop In barrel in .400 CorBon and it's cut for
a Colt. The gunny I have knows his limitations so when it didn't Drop In to
my S&W 1911 I have decided to just hold onto it and get a COlt 70 Series
and then send it to Bar STo for fitting. LOng Term PRoject Another reason
for a Colt 70 Series is I want a 1911 with the features more like the ones I
carried in the USN externally, well except better sights

and the beat goes on.... yeahda yaddah

Simplest, best and cheapest to get the "look" you want would be to have the barrel you have Parkerized or blued.

None of the aftermarket match barrels like Kart, Barsto, and others will be either blue or parkerized.

The factory barrel shoots decent, I was just wondering because I like a blued/parkerized barrel in a stainless/nickel gun.

Keep in mind, that over time, the finish is going to get worn off anyway by the bushing. I also can't remember the last time I saw a barrel in anything other than a brushed finish.

I SUPPOSE, one could Duracoat anything any color they wanted to. Just remember that the barrel/bushing match is critical to the accuracy of the gun, and if you start messing with it it could cause problems.

+1

You will quickly get the finish worn off on the chamber section where the slide runs over it, as well as the whole barrel where the barrel bushing runs over it.

Part of the reason you don't see many black 1911 after-market barrels.
