Have i damged something? a couple months ago i purchased a new S&W 637-2. having read numerous positive threads on dry firing, i have dry fired this little gem over 2600 times (DA). it seems to have had alot of great impact on the action, (alot smoother). i recently read another thread that said this is a nono. what or whom do i believe? a few trips to the range and no problems whatsoever, and what a wonderful way to sail thru the commercials while watching the tube! i ghess i'm going to get the same advise as i have read before: centerfires with firing pin in the revolver not on the hammer then OK, never on a rimfire. i know it's too late and i have already decided to do it, but somehow it's fun to stir up the opinions again and also get a warm and fuzzy on my actions. BTW, i love this piece and until the finish starts to peel off as i have read it does on some 637s, i stand behind it.

Its probably fine. You can spend a few bucks and get A-Zoom snap-caps though.

Since it is ok to dry fire my 642, I assume it would be ok to dry fire its cousin--the 637--eventho mine has a striker and yours a hammer.
