I was wondering if anybody has used the dry graphite lubricant that is use for locks on their pistols. I know places need a wet type of lube, but mabye it would be good in places that you do not want to attract dirt. Dirt and dust stick to oil and is trapped by it. Or am I just re inventing the wheel or something??

there are several good dry lubes out there already for pistols. just check the shelf where the rest of the cleaners and lubes are. i have a can of rem dri-lube that i use in certain places that don't move a lot, like levers and actions.

graphite can migrate from where you initially place it. Combine that with propellant residue and other oils/solvents you use on guns -sounds like you have a good recipe for 'slurry'.

I have also heard that graphite will aggressively attack aluminum, and thus corrode it. With that said, I did use graphite lube in one of my aluminum-framed guns with no ill effects for a year or so...

True graphite is not one of them. Graphite is "Instant Wear". You can wear through steel with enough graphite and friction.
