I'm looking for an upper assy. for my M4 project and I find several listed by DSA and Model 1 Sales. Anyone have any info on either company? I don't even know if they have any but wanted to find out about them before I called.

I've uppers from both Model 1 and DSA. I've been happy with both, and have orders with DSA for an 5.56 11" SBR upper and a 5.45x39 11.5" SBR upper from Model 1. Been "backordered" since Dec with no word on when or if they will ever ship, but nothing has been charged to my credit card yet, so I assume/hope they are working on the backlog.

I've had a Model One sales varmint kit (everything but the lower) on order since Jan 2. Order is still 'being processed'.

Thanks for the replies. I lucked out and found a local dealer who had two complete STAG uppers with bolt carriers for a really good price, so I think I'm going to jump on it.

No experience with model 1, but I've had an order in with DSA since Oct. 15th (yes, FIVE months ago), still no ETA. Good quality products, but mediocre CS and abysmal shipping times. The initial estimate was 3-4 weeks, and ever since then it's been "by the end of (insert current month)". I figure I might have it by 2014. In the mean time, as soon as NFA stamp gets my stamp back to me, I have to send in a letter amending it from the 11" description when I ordered the DSA upper to either 7.5" or 12.5" for one of the uppers I acquired locally in the weeks following when I got impatient with DSA.

If you don't mind the wait, as I said, their quality is excellent and pricing is very fair. I really like my DSA FAL para carbine, too.

Dsa has great quality for a budget builder... BUT ive had an order out since july2. I wouldnt hold my breath on wait times.

I've bought 4 stripped upper receivers from DSA over the past 2 years and they are good to go. Great quality and finish, even better price.

I've also heard favorable reviews from Model 1 Sales.

There are a lot of users over on AR15.com who are not happy with how long they've had to wait on their orders (mostly AR15 parts) from DSA. I ordered some FAL magazines and tools from them and had my order in 10 days. When I was into AR's I got some parts through Model 1 and had good experiences every time. Right now the rush as on for AR parts and IF the vendor has them in stock it will take a while to get an order filled.

I ordered a stripped upper from DSA and it took them a little over two weeks to get it to me. I ordered the upper parts kit from bravocompanyusa.com . So far so good.

DSA told me they are using mossberg barrels. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing but they told me they were the best quality for the price range they are selling. My buddy got a Model 1 Sales with an ER Shaw barrel. I am not sure if all their models use Shaw

I have a CAR upper from Model 1 and am very pleased with it.

Have bought many parts from Model 1 over the years - they're usually @ the D/FW area gun shows. If you did far back into the interwebs, their server was apparently infected years ago & numerous folks got their CC#s jacked by hackers. Problem has been fixed by all accounts, they have a wide variety of AR parts, uppers, & even M1 Garand, M1A, & M1 carbine bits.
