Which medium/small size single would serve best as defense weapon but also stand up to shooting it like it was designated range toy. Ive been thinking either the all steel Kahrs (k9 and mk9) and the older Smith and Wessons (cs9 is my favorite but ive had a hard time finding one reasonably priced). But are any others I should look into? I have a g19 and that's obviously better. But I want a smaller 9mm to carry but I can also shoot alot at the range and save ammo with the smaller mags. What about the lc9? Or should I stay all steel?

thanks again,
cc

I owned a Kahr K9. Really great shooting gun and highly recommended. I ended up selling it because I didn't find it that much more difficult to carry a Glock 26 on the belt, which has a lot more rounds.

Check out the Sig P239 in addition to S&W single stacks. Neither of them will wear out any time soon from normal carry/range use.

Have you looked into 1911's? Anything from sti is great and will last forever.

The K9 is a very nice gun, a good choice for your description. Balances well, very ergonomic, low bore axis, excellent DAO trigger.
