I need a new pair of duty/work boots.

I use them for shooting and training, plus just everyday wear.

My current pair is Magnum boots and I really like them, but my friend says I should try a new brand called "Shoes For Crews -- Slip Resistant Footwear."

He says that are well priced and are good to wear.

Does anyone else wear "Shoes For Crews" footwear, and if so, what do you think of them.

Also, please feel free to suggest any other brands of work or duty boots that you like (and where I can buy them online).

Thanks...

:p :p :p

well i dont have Shoes For Crews, but i do have route 66 boots that i got from kmart :D
cheap, durable and it's got rubber sole that says oil resistant!
i believe this is a construction worker boots with 8" top. i wear it everyday to range/school/work, including to a ballroom dance class :)
now that's a multipurpose shoes

i'm also a real big fan of danner arcadias ,they are the most comfortable boot i have ever worn , i think they are more comfortable than my tennis shoes.

Try these:

They last longer than the Danners(I've had them) and cost about half. They are very comfortable once they are broke in and will last. I usually go through three pairs of boots a year, the first pair of these lasted almost three years. They were still waterproof when I threw them out.

Shoes for Crews sells a lot of footwear to restaraunt employees. Go to your local Outback and ask for an old catalog. I don't know about the quality of the gear, but those kitchen floors are covered in grease so they must be somewhat slip-resistant!

Personally, I love Original Swat boots. I used to wear the HiTechs, but they never lasted more than a few months on the job. OS boots are built ten times better and last me forever. They are soooooo comfortable that I can't imagine life without them.

The only downside is that I do so much walking that I usually wear the treads off before the uppers even begin to wear out.

If they can take the abuse I put them through without busting a zipper or popping a seam, you know they have to be good. And that .75" of foam padding in the sole is a wonderful thing when you spend your day on your feet.

I'll have to look into these Danners, but I don't think I'll get a better boot for the money spent. $75 for OS 8" zipper-sides that last a year or more and only have to be retired for lack of tread..that's hard to beat.

Hmmmm... never heard of Original Swat. Better than HiTechs but cheaper??? I will try them out...

Thanks VaughnT!

Danners are good, but they are pricey. I should know, I own four pairs of them. :) I use mine primarily for hiking and backpacking.

A "best buy" for value has to be the Rocky Mountain Stalker. This is a black military-style 8" all-leather boot with Gore-Tex lining, 600 gram Thinsulate insulation and Vibram outsole. Available for $60 new from Bradley's Military Surplus.

Have you bought these boots? I ordered a couple of pairs from Bradley about three years ago. They sent me one set of the Rocky's and one set(by mistake)of the issue Matterhornes. My son wore the Rockys for one backpack trip and the soles were crumbling as we walked. I called Bradleys and they took them back and sent us another set of the Matterhornes as the replacements. The Rockys were apparently "surplus" boots also. I guess we just got a bad batch. Bradleys is a good company to deal with, they took care of the problem right away.

Yes, I have a pair. Never a problem with them. Sorry to hear you got a bad batch, but I agree ... Bradleys' is a good place. All my BDUs (Propper) were purchased there.

Onslaught, www.originalswat.com

I walk all day, every day, delivering to stores and banks. HiTech didn't last even a year without blowing out a zipper or seam.

OS has lasted well over a year before the tread was simply gone.

Danners

After 10 years on patrol, I have worn Bates, Rocky's, Hi Tech's, and several different types of 'jump boots'.

Two months ago, I got a pair of Danner Blackhawk 1/4 boots (I now prefer the shorter boot to acomodate an ankle holster).

I am fastiduous about my uniform appearance, and ensure my boots are shined almost every night. Even after kneeling on concrete, tripping over a flower pot, and catching the toe on the emergency brake pedal, they weren't badly scuffed and they brushed right back up to a nice shine.

Very, very well made boots, and very comfortable after I added a thin insole. I am sure they will last for years, and likely be replaced by another pair of Danners.

I am now currently thinking about getting a pair of Acadia's for tactical team use ($!).

I heard good things about the Oakley Assault Boots but they're a little too Elite for me. I like my Danners a lot though.

Thanks for your opinions...

I decided to try a new brand that was mentioned: I got the Original Swat Boots (Classic 6 inch model).

:D :D :D
